Elysia is the granddaughter of the Faerie queen, making her royal by blood. Her father married a human woman, making her a hybrid.
To explain why she is called a Kyn, I have to explain basic lore for the story. The Kyn is born once in every few Generations and, generally speaking, there isn’t more than one at a time, or so the legend says. The Kyn is basically a genetic cocktail of “abnormal” or “inhuman” creatures. For Elysia, she won the genetic jackpot because of her parents respective bloodlines.

Elysia is warm and trusting, though she forces a bit of a cynical face when approached by men who have been captivated by her glamour. This is because she has very little control over a psychic ability that relies on physical contact. This ability is a major drawback to her character as she was never taught to use it properly, and became fearful of seeing the true nature in others.
In combination with her touch-based psychic ability, she has faerie sight, which enables her to see past the glamour that other “abnormals” put forth to walk amongst humans. With this said, she sometimes recklessly outs other abnormals, blurting out, or calling out to them in excitement, as if she knows them personally.
A drawback to her ability is that prolonged physical, skin-on-skin contact, Elysia’s own glamour will break and she will begin to take on a muddled and/or flawed version of that other person’s natural appearance, almost as if her body is trying to become that of the other being. This is because of the “shapeshifter”/dragon blood in her DNA.

Elysia, being a Faerie hybrid, is small of stature, and meant to be attractive to the eye of most, as a defense mechanism to protect herself. This said, part of her look is called a GLAMOUR, a fairy trick to appear how they wish to be seen. It is because of her small stature that she can be mistaken for a child.
Her hair is colored somewhere between a reddish brown and violet color, depending on the lighting and effort of her glamour. Her eyes and skin tone are never changing, as she likes the color that comes naturally for Faerie kind. Her one “flaw” that she loves are her freckles.
As for clothing, she dresses herself in dark colors to bring out the shock and brilliance of her natural tones. This is in combination with her mourning for the loss of her family members, which she cannot bring herself to get over.

As mentioned above, Elysia was born to the son of the Faerie queen and a human woman. She was raised by an uncle after the death of both parents until she was of an age that was deemed appropriate for her to return to her childhood home. She was given a set of guards to protect her, considering the events beforehand.
While she considers two of the guard's close friends, she formed a loving attachment to the other two. While Ember and Alek guard her from a short distance, Jesse and Aisak are near-constant companions, at her side every waking moment. It is important to note that she believes her own feelings are a side effect of their closeness, but they are a certain part of her destiny, as she saw them both in the eyes of the man that took her family from her.
