Ashka and her brother Liska are guardians of a holy shrine on the edge of the woods of Kamikōchi.
She has a good heart, but is still very naive and playful. She is convinced every person is good and lovable, which is why she does not understand why her brother won't meet every desire which is expressed in prayer.
Since she's still very young and inexperienced, Ashka serves mainly as the patron of children and fulfills small requests, which only require little magic (and Liska's permission).

Ashka loves her brother dearly, but absolutely hates his attitude towards humans. Deep down she knows that Liska has a reason for his disdain but she doesn't dare to ask him up front. She sometimes finds herself snooping around instead, trying to understand her brother just a tiny bit better.
Seeing how much he cares for their shrine and how lovely he treats every living being, Ashka fell in love with the shrines Kannushi on first sight. That's also the main reason Ashka hates her brothers attitude that much. She knows that Liska would never approve of her love for the human, so she never reveals herself to him, only admiring him from afar.
