How come he is both a water bender and fire bender when he isn't the avatar?
I feel like in the avatar universe it’s a little weird that there is only one person in the entire world that can learn more than one type of bending at a time.
 I think the world is so expansive that there has to be at least a few cases where there are benders that can do more than one; for example the swamp benders that technically bend both earth and water...it’s just my personal interpretation is all ^^
