Backstory:
Laet was born mute. Because she had no voice it was easy to neglect her presence. Often in her household she'd be ignored because her siblings and parents didn't know how to understand her thoughts or what to do with and for her. This left her feeling frustrated, dissatisfied, and lonely. She thought if she left, her family, as poor as they were, would have one less mouth to feed and they could support themselves without having to worry about her.
When she got old enough to make her own rational decisions, she left without warning and challenged the world for herself. Eventually someone found her and took her in seeing her by herself. This person happened to be in some kind of adventurer/mercenary's guild and brought out the determined, hard working, and cheerful adventurer she is.
Present:
Working and traveling as a mercenary, she's able to live freely and support herself. She doesn't have to worry too much about communicating with her clients since all that matters is that the job is finished. Within the mercenary's guild, she's in line to be the next guild's master.
As a mercenary she's tough and determined on the job, but when people take personal interest in her, she tends to be a bit flustered.
She's also secretly a romantic!
