🌒Eerie🌘

Eerie is rather flexible in design. Most of the time, they are a simple black cat with shaggy hair and no markings whatsoever. They have an average build, flat chest with a jagged mastectomy scar, and a long fluffy tail. They have black pawpads, and their fingernails are usually black or red - if drawn as claws, white or red. They often like to paint their eyelids a dark red or a darker black/gray. They need glasses to see well, but usually discards them anyway.
Anthro is the default/"canon" form of Eerie, though quadruped/digitigrade depictions are welcome, too.

Sometimes, Eerie shapeshifts into a variety of monstrous forms, gaining traits such as antlers, horns, excessive amounts of eyes, black feathered wings, talon feet, sharp claw-like fingers, multiple limbs, etc. Once their body is mutated, one may spot strange markings on their back and tail, but these disappear once the mutations do. Mutations generally happen against their will, and causes them distress. They learn ways to control it better and come to terms with it eventually though.

Eerie is very private and reclusive. They try to keep others at arm's length, and is not above being mildly rude or cold to ward off anyone that dares intrude on their comfort zone. Usually though, they appear polite and distant, and generally only speaks when spoken to.
Their introversion is in large part just a personality trait, but some of it is also a conscious effort - they fear others finding out about their paranormal 'infliction', and puts up metaphorical walls to protect themselves from being exposed. One of their biggest fears is being ostrachized for being different - though, in the end, their own deliberate self-isolation kind of achieves the same result anyway.

Behind these walls though, Eerie is a shy, gentle, empathetic person who badly wishes for a sense of belonging. They are studious and curious, though never impulsive if they can avoid it. They are intensely passionate about their interests and can get lost in them for hours on end, the material world vanishing entirely in the wake of their imagination. They try to keep a lid on these around others too, though.
They consider themselves a realist, which in truth means that they can be somewhat cynical, and often expects the worst. They do have a streak of mischief, though this has only been observed by those they eventually come to hold dear. They're fiercely loyal to those they care about.

In a universe in which horrors and anomalies creep just beneath the surface of an otherwise rather ordinary world, Eerie finds themselves blurring the line between the natural and the supernatural.
In this, they are not alone - every once in a while, you may pass by someone whose life has been touched by the paranormal. Some foolishly attempt to control it, some never come to realize its effect on their lives, some even dedicate their lives to studying it - Eerie being one of the latter, albeit at the expense of their own mortality.

Eerie works at a quaint little library on the outskirts of a homely little town, a couple hours away from the nearest bigger city. The town is surrounded by dense forests of tall pines, mountains and valleys. The library isn't particularly grand, but it does have two floors of well-kept books for readers of all shapes and sized. The atmosphere is cozy and quiet, if a little dusty here and there. Still, Eerie takes great pride in the variety of their collection, and takes good care of both the classics and the newly published.
Some say the old building has a whole different feeling to it after dark - not sinister per say, not really, though a little creepy nonetheless. You don't need to go far to hear the rumours of the ghosts and ghouls that surely haunt those tall shelves, but most rational people don't pay them any mind. Even so, the library is rarely very bustling with activity, which suits Eerie just fine.
Those few that do drop by regularly, may notice that Eerie seems to always be the only employee around. Even fewer know that on the third floor is where Eerie makes their home.

A cozy little apartment of sorts, not huge, but not too cramped either, is where they spend most of their free time. In the privacy of their own home, Eerie is free to study and experiment on various books and artifacts of... less than ordinary qualities. Such items, if in the hands of those that lack experience with the supernatural, or those with the wrong intentions, can be very dangerous. Lethal, even, or worse if you were real unlucky. Fortunately, Eerie has learned to treat them with care, though they have not come out of this hobby completely unscathed.
They were not born with their shapeshifting abilities, and for a long time, they saw it as more of a curse. It took a lot of time and huddling over books to figure out how to control them somewhat reliably. Still, they are at risk of mutating into various monstrous forms if they get too emotional, and has therefore adopted a rather stoic appearance around other people. It's all made it rather hard for them to form new relationships - things can get quite lonely when you have to hide your crazy freakazoid monster powers from the rest of society.

In their spare time, Eerie likes to read, indulge in video games, draw, have existential crises about their mortality (or lack thereof), and worrying about being consumed by higher powers they could never possibly comprehend. Also, quiet walks in the forest.
