Benedict has been in Hell for longer than he can remember. He spends his days working as one of the few reapers that chooses who goes to Heaven and who goes to Hell. It's a comfortable living and one of the most prestigious jobs you can earn in Hell these days. Before the new devil took over in recent years, Benedict spent a lot of time working on his shapeshifting abilities to work his way up the social latter of (the old) torturous Hell. His aspirational and optimistic nature has in time completely turned into pissy pessimistic rage.

Nonetheless, Benedict still has traces of his alive personality. He died a strong and inspirational journalist, willing to die to uncover government secrets that oppressed the working class. He was assassinated as a result of his findings. Benedict will always be someone with a heart of gold and a fighter of injustice, though it may look deeply buried beneath his miserable old facade.
