There is a lifetime of waves, rippling grain from harvest after harvest, baled behind his eyes. Gaze gone glassy, he sits in wait, stubborn in his stillness; “nevermore,” this poet goes, quietly contemplating the cruelty of existence as he maintains this masquerade. Even though the crow sometimes visits, he is largely alone, prisoner to his own mind.
