Summary

A former Vespen prince of the nation of Ventus 600+ years in the past, Luc is now the immortal and forgotten Deity of Four Seasons. When he was still a mortal being, his only "friend" was the old guardian deity. When this deity sacrificed their life in the legendary Divine War 600+ years ago, Luc recklessly agreed to inherit the deity's position in their dying moments. Once Luc became the new, immortal deity of Four Seasons, he fell into a deep sleep, only to awaken over 600 years later to a future that is endangered by the Demon Lord once again. Now, it is up to Luc to slay the dark lord that killed his predessecor for good, and save the world.

Personality

All you need to do is take one look at Luc to describe him as "carefree" or "free-spirited."

Luc roams the land doing much of whatever or anything he wants, and it seems that many of his actions are based on mere whims. However, if you were to look closer, you would see that these whims are far more complex and emotional than one can see with just the eye. Luc is actually extremely perceptive and calculating, and while it can seem like none of his actions have any calculated meaning or purpose, they almost always are planned in a way that makes sense later on. Luc can plan many moves ahead, is an excellent actor, and is excellent at making things go exactly the way he wants them to. But he's not some kind of blatant liar or anything-- he's more like a free-spirited, highly perceptive soul who is highly devoted to his strong moral compass and isn't afraid to use his cunning in the favor of what is just.

Aside from his whimsical and perceptive nature, Luc is also decently energetic. He's bursting with enthusiam, though his enthusiasm dosen't always humor other people who may want it to. He's a slippery little jokester, and his tounge is as sharp as his skills. He's actually very kind and encouraging, and is the most extroverted of the group. He has a strong moral compass and is daring/courageous to prove it, but often doesn't think about the trouble he could land himself into (and often does.) It's hard to tell if this is a good or bad thing, but Luc doesn't really seem to care, as he enjoys the element of suprise that comes with no one believing that he is a deity-- he has had no trouble dealing with ordinary human or mortal authorities. Still, he might be a little TOO unaware of the effects of his "rebellious" nature on his reputation...

  • FEELING: The wind (both feeling and sound)
  • FREEDOM:Being able to do what he wants
  • PLACE:Being outdoors; large, open spaces

  • FOOD: A old local Ventus delicacy called "Cibavit Pan" (longer version of the name is "ventum cibavit panem", or "wind grazed bread."
  • SONG: An old traditional hymn, "O Four Divine Winds." Almost no one remembers this song, and it is very rare that someone who does not have a special job relates to history knows of it, so if Luc were to sing it in this future era, he'd pique the interest of some certain individuals, which he might not want...
  • INSTRUMENT: A white, flute-like instrument, known as an "Soma."

Story

Luc was once the youngest scion of the royal family of the great kingdom of Ventus, over 600 years in the past. The royal family of the Ventus Capital is made up of pureborn Vespens. Vespens are the native race of the nation-- the race of people who originally founded the kingdom. Moreover, he originall lived a life that was isolated-- distant from the rest of the royal family due to being the youngest scion, and also forbidden from interacting with commoners. This kind of life made Luc extremely lonely-- until he met the Deity of Four Seasons.

Friendships

When Luc first met the Deity of Four Seasons by the fountain in the royal family's courtyard, he did not know that they were a deity. At some point, he must have thought the mysterious being to be his fairy godfather. The two of them had much fun together, and Luc's entire life began to center on the benevolent deity and his teachings. But times change, and when the war against the Demon King came, Luc realized that even deities do not live forever... As one friendship he had came to a close, Luc continued to hold on, willingly taking up his old friend's role... as the Deity of Four Seasons.

After he first became the new Deity of Four Seasons, Luc first had to train before he went into a deep sleep to await the time when he would be needed. It is in these first few days before he began his training, that Luc found himself lost and deep in sorrow over the loss of his friend. But one will find that there are many friendships waiting for them in life, and Luc found another friend, while only briefly, in a commoner near the edge of the city during the first few days he had stumbled round in a daze. She was a simple girl, but a determined one, and when Luc confessed he had lost a loved one, she was deeply sympathetic. All worked up, she suggested that they make a proper grave. After all, she said, while people may host a symbolic and religous gathering to honor the death of a cherished detiy, "what that deity really deserves is to be laid to rest by a loved one." The words struck Luc at the core, and the two of them buried the flowers that Luc had taken the time to gather from where they adorned the old deitie's hair. They created a beautiful grave outside of an abandoned building near the sea, and as the wind blew past them, the girl said: "I want to make a little cemetery here. Just for people who can't afford one of those fancy funerals." She turned to Luc. "I want to do good in the world. So... maybe I'll make a church here too. And a shelter!" She smiled, thinking of all the possibilites. "And an orphanage." Luc smiled. "I think those are all great ideas." It would be one of the mysterious things he ended up telling the mysterious, blind shrine maiden about, during his 100 year long training up in the sacred mountains. Little did he know, these memories would become relevant once more someday...

Training

After Luc became the new Deity of Four Seasons, he traveled through the city in secret, paying respects and goodbyes to all of the cities people. It was also during this time that he met the common girl who helped him make a grave for the fallen deity. Finally, before resting until he was needed once more, there was still something Luc had to do in order to be completely read for his new role: He had to train for 100 years in the sacred mountains up north. When Luc arrived at the sacred mountains, he was greeted by a mysterious, blind shrine maiden. She barely said anything, and would only speak at times and in ways that would make him look foolish; or force him to reconsider what he had said in the first place. She was so silent and beautiful, yet somehow weathered and strict, and managed to train him coldly, with an iron fist. At first, Luc was annoyed with her-- the fearsomeness and yet quietness of the maiden. But eventually, he warmed up to her-- and being lonely, often would tell her many stories of his own life, or just folk tales that were make believe. He told her of his times in the garden with the old deity. He told her of the tree they would play around when he was a child. He told her of the common girl, and the makeshift grave near the abandoned temple. He told her of that girls wishes to do good, and how he admired her so. Most of the time, it appeared like the shrine maiden would just stand and watch. But in reality, she was listening. For those 100 years, she always listened to him... and when he finally began to sink into his long sleep, for the next 500 years or so, it was then that at last, she spoke, in her weathered, old, yet somehow young and tearful voice: "Thank you... May we meet again."

The Future

After a long sleep of 500 years, Luc finally awoke to a world that had changed drastically from the one he had known. The development of magic technology, the enlightnment of religion, yet the beginning of doubt in the holy and dwindling belief in the gods... The new and brave fearlessness, and independence, of humanity and civilization, amazed him, yet also even scared him. But he continued on, heading back to the city he called his home once, in order to discover the whearabouts of the Demon King, and why he had been summoned... Yet there, he met many surprises. For one, a girl -- who closely resembled the commoner he had met 600 years ago -- soon approached him, and knew his name. She told him that "Sister Freyja told us that if we were to meet you someday, we'd bring you to the temple." But wait... Freyja was the name of the shrine maiden that looked after him during his training! How does this girl, who looks like someone Luc met once, know her?! And what's more, when Luc arrives at the "temple" the girl speaks of, it's.... The same place that Luc was brought to by a commoner 600 years ago in order to make a grave for the former deity?! The once-abandoned building was now fixed up and renewed, and Luc later learned it had been converted into a temple and orphanage... that common girl really went and did it! And the grave, while deteriorated and rebuilt multiple times over the years, is still standing, now adorned with many, many flowers... Luc finds himself nearly in tears at all of this. Is the commoner he has now met the descendant of the common girl he met 600 years ago? Did Freyja actually travel from the mountains to meet the followers of the soon-to-be temple that Luc had told her about?! And who is this new, short-tempered lesser drake on the scene-- Freyja's apprentice?! What are all these developments?! Luc begins coming to terms with people of the future that may be related to his past-- along with others, like cursed sisters with respectivley bad and good luck, a half-lizard mercenary, and his own family's descendant?! The adventure is just beginning!!!

Trivia

  • Can play many instruments, but prefers wind instruments. Plays a "Soma", which closely represents the instrument we know as a "recorder".
  • He is actually powerful enough to cast spells without chants, but he often chants to hide his actual skill level as a tactic.
  • He can't stand tight, closed spaces. He prefers sleeping outdoors if he can.
  • If he uses an extremely powerful spell (like relativelY EXTREMELY powerful; there's only like two in his roster like this kind of powerful) his hair turns a much brighter blonde or nearly white for a certain period of time because it drains so much of his magical energy. (Haha, wonder where I got this from! COUGHS slayers COUGHS)

Skills

  • Incredibly talented with casting magic. Can cast all elemental magic, but his strong suit is wind magic. He's still probably more skilled than top mages at other elements though, because, I mean, he's literally a deity.
  • Skilled at instruments. Has a sharp musical ear, and basically just a sharp ear in general. Can hear things from far away, and can hear things other people can't hear. Very perceptive.
  • He is able to speak in the ancient Vespen tounge, and he is also able to speak in Dragon tounge (he learned it during his 100 year training.) All Dragons, Drakes, and Lesser Drakes speak this tounge, so it's useful to know. He can speak all of the languages of his country, but is not versed in the languages of other countries, becausae they are not his domain.
  • Quick, agile, and light. It's incredibly difficult to catch him. He's a slipperly one, and his forte is wind magic, so it makes things even harder if you're trying to track him down.

Design Notes

  • Can draw with or without cloak, whichever one is your preference. It's important to note that the cloak is a traditional sort of garb, and it's something he specifically wears because he's the deity, and it's the customary garb of the Deity of Four Seasons. He can be seen without the cloak a good deal as well.
  • The ears on the cloak are not rabbit ears (LOL), while they resemble them (somewhat as a joke) They are made to resemble the long horns of a dragon.
  • He actually has "Vespen" ears on the side of his head-- meaning the golden, hair colored "tufts" on the side of his head are actually his (fluffy, animal-like) ears. The ears on his hood are not his ears (They are decoration on the hood.) So he should not be drawn with human ears-- when not partially obscured by the hood, the Vespen ears should be pretty visible!
  • He has TWO different colored streaks in his hair -- The one above the eye on the right is blue, and theres one further up on the left that is green! The green will be partially obscured (or fully obscured, depending on angle) when he is wearing the hood, but it's there!

Ran

[Friend, reminds him of someone, Love interest(?)] Ran reminds Luc of the the commoner he met 600 years ago and made a grave with -- and she resembles her more than just in appearance. Still, Ran is her own person with her own special charm to her, and Luc can't help but get along with her well-- and may eventually begin questioning feelings for her...

Silas

[Descendant, friend, someone to look after] Silas is a prince, and a direct descendant of Luc's royal family, so Luc considers Silas to be his direct descendant. Luc ends up seeing alot of himself in Silas, (abliet Silas is "less intelligent") and ends up feeling the need to keep Silas out of trouble-- that is, to prevent him from making foolish desicions. Luc insists that he is Silas's senior, to which Silas disagrees, and yet we see Silas often benefitting from a lot of advice Luc gives and starting to depend on him... a lot...

Gale

[Friend, Comrade, "funny guy"] Luc and co. first meet Gale as part of a huge misunderstanding that ends up becoming a massive brawl, but even with things starting on the wrong foot, Luc and Gale end up more then aqquainted over a long period of time-- with Luc and crew needing a ship, Gale needing his own set of favors, and Luc and Gale moreover running into each other coincedentally on more than one occasion. Eventually, Gale ends up just joining the crew, and while he seems constantly angry about it, Luc has a feeling that he's actually just glad to be with a legitimate group of people (that actually have trading liscenses and whatnot...) In turn, Luc teases Gale a lot, but thinks he's a "funny guy" and in truth, values him as a comrade. They don't always see eye to eye, but isn't that they way it is with any friendship?
