Sun-Hi

Sun-Hi is a chaotic neutral high elf wizard with a specialization in necromancy.

She is an enthusiastic, thrill-seeking, adventurous and passionate korean trans woman. She can be hotheadeded at times, but is loyal to her friends. She adores her ermine familiar, Lazarus, more than anything—except maybe her younger twin brothers.

Sun-Hi is the oldest child of the noble Alosoro family, well to-do nobility in the kingdom’s capital. Her parents are very stern and traditional, and expect their children to follow in their footsteps and be successful. They intended for Sun-Hi to one day go into politics, while her two younger brothers would run the family trading company. Sun-Hi’s younger twin brothers, Mi-reu (me-RA-oo) and Ba-ram (ba-RAM) were very close to her; the dagger she carries is a gift they bought for her birthday. Her father is the quiet and stern Dae-Seong, and her mother is the strict and traditional Ji-Min. The Alasoro family’s crest is a water lotus.

When she was a young child, Sun-Hi saw a street performer casting beautiful flashy spells. She became fascinated by both magic and showmanship. With borrowed books, she taught herself magic, even though her parents didn’t want her to waste her time becoming an adventuring magician. Her morbid curiosity especially drew her towards necromantic magic. Unfortunately, necromancy is very dangerous without proper training. She accidents cursed herself with a wasting disease that caused her body to rot away. After several months of searching, her parents found a cleric who could not cure the curse, but could prevent it from spreading any further. This lead to her half-skeletal appearance, as well as a rather fragile constitution. (In the world she lives in transphobia is not an issue; her parents are accepting of her gender, but not her career path or lifestyle.)

Sun-Hi’s conflict with her parents over magic was the start of her more rebellious nature, refusing to give up her dream despite her parents’ wishes. Her goal in life is to become a powerful enough wizard to thrill and excite the whole world, living or dead.

Sun-Hi’s familiar is a white ermine she named Lazarus, (or Laz for short), who often is sleeping under her big hat. Once in school she stabbed someone for grabbing him too roughly. Be mean to the bab, you get the stab.

Sun-Hi was a troublemaker while in school, starting fights, gambling with other students, and causing a general ruckus. Her greatest intangible fear is living a cold life of boredom, loneliness, and repetitivity. Her greatest tangible fear is burning to death—this ties into her interest in necromancy, because in a way “life” carried on; but if you burn to death, even your corpse is gone forever. She’s generally represses her fears, so they aren’t often obvious to other people and she can seem recklessly fearless.
