Adenium comes from Gorgon ancestry. Over the centuries, it's become more and more rare for the original traits of her Gorgon matriarchs to appear, but Addy just got lucky I guess. Considered nobility with the clear birthright of Gorgonian status, she and her head of snakes are were originally given an important duty: to continue the blood line. But when the family betrothal was absolved due to the other family not wishing to encourage the continuation of something so unnatural, Addy began to lose hope in herself.
Background:
Adenium is not actually cursed, she's just overdramatic. Being born with a full head of snakes isn't a normal thing and nothing her parents, nursemaids, or mentors had to say about it changed the weird looks she would often get from the towns folk and their children. Addy wasn't allowed friends, her mother would arrange play dates but she rarely saw the same child more than twice. Later in her life, she learned it was because they would be removed as soon as a disagreeable comment or response was observed. Her childhood home was a manor in a desert region in the northern part of the Southern continent of Acuba (need to verify geography). She was homeschooled, studied under many trades and practices, and has a passive knowledge in a large sum of subjects. Despite her exposure to many fo the finer things in the world, Addy never really came into anything she could honestly call her own. She became known as a disinterested child; perhaps because even her mentors would have to be removed at some point for the same reason as her playmates and none of her studies were ever truly completed.
Personality:
Addy is a very testy adult now, favoring a sour attitude and somewhat pessimistic outlook. She tends to seem bored and often exasperated. While her family comes from old wealth, she chose to reject the life picked out for her. Instead, she embraced a "commoner" life to the best of her ability, keeping her snakes wrapped under head scarves (something she was never allowed to do at home as they were meant to be a sign of pride), and taking backroom jobs in warehouses, mailer rooms, or even kitchens as long as very few people ever saw her.
Her living arrangements are located in the upstairs apartment of a laundromat in the lower end of the city, her landlord is a reasonable human who seems to be very good friends with the restaurant across the street from the laundromat, so Addy has a frequent diet of what we would know as Chinese food; a far call from the authentic cuisine it claims to be. Adenium isn't picky with food but she is very educated in it from her upbringing. This is a common occurrence with most things she finds in the city that she never speaks of out loud but does passively think about.
