Being the first child and most magically talented, Hemlock struggles for attention behind her. He takes out frustration on her because he feels he can reasonably blame her for all his issues. He‘s wrong.

Simply put; Hemlock isn’t over Mbali, and she’s already moved on. He’s not fully content with just being friends, but he also can’t bring himself to blame her for her own decisions. So he takes it out on her boyfriend like a prick. He feels she owes him a relationship just because he was available, which she doesn’t have the time to entertain.
