Nila Chandra Rai was born to Samaira and Madhav Rai, two first-gen Indian immigants in Stirling, Scotland as the oldest of 4 children. She had a caring and supportive family environment, realizing she was trans early in life and her parents not understanding fully at first but supporting her through everything. When she was 6 years old, she went on a trip with her parents and her younger brother to the beach in the early summer. She was walking along the rocky shoreline, facing the water when she was suddenly shoved into the water and dragged into the ocean, nearly drowning. A stranger on the beach had seen her be pushed and saved her, but it was never identified who the assaulter was. After this incident she developed a terrible phobia of the ocean and large expanses of water, eventually going through therapy for it in her later teens.
Aside from this phobia, Nila excelled in her studies and was drawn to the sciences, specifically zoology and geology. She eventually went on to get her Bachelor's in geology and attempted to get a job in the field before realizing that she did not want to persue a solely scientific career. She had started a small business in university as a crystal seller and jewelry maker, and she started to more seriously dive into this goal once she turned away from a more serious geology job. Eventually, she decided to move to Amnesia, CO in the hopes of having more access to rarer crystals and gems. She moved there a few years before the events of Garden of Legacies, building a good community and solid base for her business.

Tall, medium build with wide hips. Black hair with grey/white streaks, bright blue eyes. Dark brown skin. She isn't skinny, she has a little bit of a belly and bigger thighs and gains more weight as she ages. Her face is heart-shaped and she has a long, hooked nose with a low bridge. Her lips are small but full and sometimes appear to be in the shape of a heart. 
Usually wears skirts and long sleeve shirts, but occasionally wears loose-fitting shorts or pants and tank tops. Style tends to be hippie/boho but will wear anything that doesn't cling to her body. The few tight clothes she does wear are either satin-y dresses like slips or bodybon dresses OR camisoles. Doesn't like to wear socks so tends to wear sandals or any shoes that don't require socks, in the winter she wears tights under her socks and wears looser boots. |

Nila doesn't really know what to make of Tiernan at first, put off by his serious and no-nonsense exterior but intrigued by his intelligence and knowledge. She's the second person to accept him after his past is exposed and doesn't think he's all that bad, and is very amused by his eventual relationship with Adler. After a while they grow close as well.
Nila thinks she can fix Adler. At first she thinks that they're just a sad, sad man waiting to bloom, but soon realizes that they have more to them than what it seems and admires them for their empathy and kindness. Sometimes she takes it upon herself to try and help them with their problems, but Adler carefully tells her that they'll be okay by themself and they become close confidants. Waiting to marry them helped her feel comfortable with them and considers Adler one of her best friends.
Nila and Orleans had a distant but friendly relationship prior to the events of GoL, Nila admiring her from afar but never having the courage to approach her. The journey to the Fae Court strengthened their relationship and Orleans visits her often, eventually sparking a relationship. Nila thinks that Orleans is the smartest person she knows and deeply cares for her, doing everything she can to take care of the other woman.
- Nila is the reincarnation of the fae queen Titania. This gives her the ability to create and grow crystals/gems at will, create telepathic bonds with others and read their minds, and create portals at will. She is also meant to take over the throne with Adler.
- Nila is a practicing Hindu.
- She is diagnosed with autism, and her special interests are geology and zoology, specifically with rabbits.
- She's a vegetarian but will sometimes eat fish.
