Ivannopod

Sometime during the cold war, consecutive secret nuclear detonations were tested in the Bering Sea off the coast of Siberia. This produced Ivannopod, a mutant giant isopod, later discovered by Alaskan fishermen and brought to a US research facility in 1957. After being subjected to brutal experimentation at the hands of the research facility, Ivannopod escaped along with the facility's many other subjects. 

In the year 1991, Ivannopod is now the godfather of a mafia in New York City consisting of mutants. He runs into trouble with the police from time to time due to his unusual feeding habits, and general criminal activity.

"Due to repeated nuclear testing in this area of the ocean, Ivanopod’s pod family are all deceased leaving only him who survives. However while still an egg, his genes were mutated and he grew up to be human-sized and developed some light sensitivity in his eyes. Although he did not know this as he was in complete darkness for most of his youth, growing up at the bottom of the ocean, eating whale carcass and shit. When Ivanopod was a young adult he was captured and taken to be researched. He underwent many cruel experiments where he was bound and had his blue blood drawn in large quantities to be tested. At the research center, he met Shirley, another isopod in the same situation as him. Although Shirley was a pill bug had lost an antenna after one of the experiments leaving her crippled. Ivanopod later escaped from the research center where he was kept for 10 years and swam across the Atlantic Ocean carrying Shirley on his back. Eventually, he reached New York where he posed as a human named Ivanno Pod that works as an undertaker with his sister Shirley Pod. Due to his mutation, he now has an unusual craving for human flesh and nibbles on his clients before they are sent to the crematory. While scavenging for cadavers, he met a community of mutated animals living in the city. Eventually, he had enough resources to start a mafia of mutated creatures that share information about food locations and crime in cents where casualties are involved, sometimes even provoking them, though not usually killing the victims unless necessary. With time, more mutated animals moved to the city for secure food resources and the demand of corpses increased. To fill this demand, the mafia involved itself with human trafficking and the black market.

Although Ivanopod sees humans as a food resource, he does not need to eat them and can eat pretty much any dead meat. He also feels a connection towards people and want to fit in but feels that he does not belong anywhere. His real motive for starting the mafia is to find more that are like him and collect data on the mysterious MATP(mutant animals termination program) program run by the government. Shirley does not need to eat meat, only potatoes, but has no empathy for humans because of her lost antenna. Although she still cares for Ivannopod like a brother. "
