She was a homeworld gem whose purpose was to repair and power gem circuitry. Pink tourmaline is a conductor of electricity, and I thought that was neat, so I decided to base her powers around that! She doesn’t summon a weapon, but rather draws from electrical currents generated by her gem from sunlight to power gem constructs! That red guy on the top right is a construct created by their gem buddy! (initial sketch+design by fergerking) She has an idealistic and romanticized love for the homeworld, and volunteered to come to earth to fight against the crystal gems, but fled due to cowardliness upon arrival. She went into hiding, having convinced herself that the homeworld gems would win against the crystal gems and she could return home without repercussions one the battle was over. However, since that clearly didn’t happen, she became trapped on earth with the destruction of the warp pad! Desperate to find remaining gems after the battle, they made perpetual visits to gem kindergartens and came across fergerking’s gem Crocoite! Now they live of the island off the coast of beach city together. Even after so many years, Tourmaline holds onto the hope that she might be able to return to the homeworld and doesn’t acknowledge the fact that many things have probably changed since she became isolated from it. She spends a lot of her time daydreaming and sitting around in the sun, but also spends a ton of time trying to find leftover gem artifacts. She tries to act like she has a deep-seated disinclination towards anything human, but she’s quietly developed a certain fondness for certain aspects of humanity. She’s especially fond of dancing- she loves the energy of it.
