| HISTORY: | A wandering Eldritch Horror who had once lost memories of her past life. Since rediscovering herself she has tried to distance herself from it, making an effort to improve and progress from it. Luna was born into a cult that claimed to serve Nox, the goddess of night. The cult was founded by a small group of augurs from ancient Rome, who, in their travels, believed they had stumbled upon Nox herself, who they said made a contract with them- give their lives to her, sacrifice those who had forgotten her, and receive true, supernatural, divine power. The cult grew, but remained small and secretive as their practices were, even at that time, considered cruel and blasphemous. With the rise of Christianity, even greater secrecy was needed, but fortunately members had by that time learned how to bind their souls to the dark power they'd found and remained on Earth as shadowy specters. As such, only two living members would need to be alive at any given time- someone to teach the rituals and beliefs of the cult to, and someone to be taught. In practice, this almost always meant one parent teaching it to one child. It was for this reason as well that all cult members became assassins- their lives and livelihoods would be used to gather sacrifices for their goddess. From birth, Luna, like many before her, was raised to kill, and to hone the use of the terrible and strange magic received in exchange for killing. Training for this life was brutal and traumatizing, as disobedience or failure in following the path she was given was harshly punished- and no sympathy came from those who her father loaned her out to, to murder on their behalf (frequently members of the criminal organization her mother's family operated). In time, she escaped her father, however- although the ghosts of her predecessors chased and hounded her still. For a few years, she took odd jobs, or fell back on taking work that used the only skill set she had, staying longest at a small antique shop owned by an elderly couple who took her in, prior to their death by natural causes. Shortly thereafter, the cultists found her, and burned her alive to be a sacrifice herself- however, something during the process went terribly wrong, destroying their souls and granting all the power they had acquired to her. Though now dead and a ghost herself, the rush of magic granted her glimpses of what she had believed to be her goddess, and insight into her existence. When she fed on energy of any kind (chemical, thermal, spiritual, emotional, etc.), she felt it channel through her to something greater than herself, something that was slowly pulling her in. It was only a few years after, as Luna became able to siphon exponentially greater amounts of energy, that her existence became completely assimilated into her true self- not a god at all, but a fundamentally incomprehensible cosmic phenomenon that spewed existence into being from nothing and consumed it into nothing at the same time- a phenomenon guided by a sea of souls, of which she was but one. Agonized by how overwhelming such an existence felt, and realizing she might be able to prevent it from happening, she sought to erase herself, but whatever part of her was trapped in this eternal being could not be permanently erased, and any part of herself outside would remain remembered (an option she would later return to, regardless). So instead, she tried to change the circumstances that had brought her here- to prevent the cult from ever existing- but not knowing how to control or contain the form she appeared in, she became the one that drove the cult's founders to madness in the first place. Unable to cope with this realization, Luna shut down, in spite of the newfound and acutely painful hunger she felt compelling her to feed. It was this hunger that took over, drowning out her soul's will while it pursued the emotional energy created by the cultists, allowing them to guide this primal, unconscious part of her in exchange for food. The cycle was complete. But Luna's existence did not end or begin in that cycle. Eventually, her hunger sated just enough for her to gain control again, she came to and set about trying to understand what she was, and what she needed to do to ensure that she never again lost control of herself in that manner. Part of it, she learned, was never ceasing to feed, and never ceasing to create. Outside of normal time and space, she wandered, creating and consuming worlds, listening to the thoughts of her other souls and learning who they were. When she returned to Earth at last, the few supernaturals she'd been friends with as a ghost did not recognize, accept, or understand her. Isolated and despondent, she sought to befriend others like her, but found that like her, violence ran deep within many of them, and that unlike her, they found things like companionship and compromise to be alien concepts that they couldn't be bothered with. That was, until she'd met one a little more patient, and a little more curious. Her friendship with him began with trepidation, but she felt relieved that there was finally another being that she could compare experiences with, one who seemed to accept her and encouraged her to accept herself, even if differences in emotional capacity remained. Through him she met a god of corruption, a patient and sympathetic friend in his own way, with a vicious streak to fit Luna's. When the time came that both's goals collided, she resolved not to lose either friend or let them hurt each other and did her best to mediate between them until an acceptable compromise to both was reached. | |

Overview
Powers and limits
- Absorbs and frequently subsumes anything, no matter how small or large, abstract or objective; in turn, creates from nothing a generic material that it may either feed on, leave for other beings to feed on, or otherwise manipulate, refine, and make use of. (i.e. Creation, manipulation, and destruction of existence)
- She is very passive and idle. She often chooses the path of least resistance, and dislikes getting into confrontations she doesn't start.
- Can assume any form, corporeal or incorporeal. However, all corporeal forms are subject to damage, i.e. they can be injured/killed. (Note: Luna can and does use power in her corporeal forms, but tends not to put much effort into making them tougher than they need to be/healing them when they take too much damage as opposed as to reabsorbing them and making new ones. This tends to make her very reckless and prone to making mistakes that a more cautious person would never make.)
-Most of the time, Luna isn’t going around as a disembodied voice from the sky, so she knows only what she can gather through the senses of the form she’s using. She can Turn On a sort of near-omniscience to search for things/info, but it is not something that's active by default.
Personality
Initially comes off as shy, polite, and perhaps a bit aloof, but consistently displays a love of puns, wordplay, and witticisms of all kinds. Quiet at first, but becomes extremely talkative and open around people with whom a certain amount of trust has been reached.
Despite her shyness, however, she can be quite gullible and overconfident in her abilities. Anyone skilled in persuasion would find it easy to convince her to help them.
With friends especially she is generous, gentle, caring, and loyal. She puts a great deal of effort into pleasing those close to her. However, she can also become very clingy and nosy, while often deflecting questions about her away from herself..
Luna has little regard for the lives of people who are not her friends or are otherwise considered unimportant to her, however. Her sense of morality falls apart shortly after she’s asked to apply it to people she has no connection to; enemies and bystanders alike are treated with apathy at best, ruthless disdain and contempt, or at worst like mere objects. What standards and morals she does have towards strangers is either the product of finding something in her own life to which she finds similar to their situations, or a means of maintaining a respectable reputation.
Her life and work have made her deeply pessimistic and paranoid, and although few see the full extent of it, she experiences severe mood swings that cycle rapidly. She has been slowly but steadily recovering.
