Apocalypse Verse Lore

In this verse, an apocalypse event has taken place a few months before the main action takes place. Everything is in disarray, nobody knows what to do. The initial outbreak of zombies started in Florida, and in a desprate attempt to contain the disease, the state was nuked. Because the disease had already spread, this did nothing to contain the outbreak, only causing an extremely large radioactive area and killing millions. The island of Manhattan is completely secured and acts as a "safe zone".

Humans and animals (so long as they are mammals) can be infected, however because humans are primarily interested in infecting more humans, zombified animals are much less common. Zombies only go after animals if there is no other available food option.
