Her friends descrive her as 'edgy af', and it's unclear whether that's an insult or a compliment. She loves shopping and putting together outfits, and often goes out with her "close" friend Zero (as close as you can get to someone with that many sharp edges anyway). He loves to help her pick out outfits, and she is always appreciative of his advice. Ash has cataracts in both eyes and has impaired vision as a result, so most of her clothes have less emphasis on color and more on differing textures and fun shapes/accessories. She's bounced around and held many different jobs, never quite settling on one: food service, quality assurance, marketing, she's got quite a laundry list of attempted careers. Her sense of identity is not tied to her job. Ash loves music, but is a little afraid to go to concerts on her own as they just end up being confusing and stressful.
Ash is kind of gruff, she's the type to tease you in an uninterested and incredulous tone but is often quite amused or endeared by whatever she's making fun of you for. Don't ever call her 'sweet' or 'cute', those words aren't compliments in her eyes. She may sometimes express moments of genuine excitement or happiness, but if called out on them will immediately become self-conscious and retreat back to her usual uninterested demeanor.
Ash and Zero do a good job of managing the other's rough edges. While they aren't emotionally close, they are ach the other's oldest friend, sharing a mutual love for alternative fashion.
