Lyra Orbarskyr is a half-dragon, born to a silver dragon mother and an elven father. Her parents’ relationship was nothing more than a short fling based on mutual attraction and although her father knows of her existence, he respected her mother’s wishes to raise Lyra alone in her clan. She visits her father every year or two and their relationship is cordial, but his role in her life is more like a family friend than a father which they are both content with. A few years after her birth he married an elven woman and has since had three children. Lyra is fond of her half-siblings and brings them little presents whenever she visits.

Eager to see her daughter educated, Lyra's mother sent her to (insert school name) when she came of age. Lyra had a knack for magic and loved developing her skills. She made lots of friends at school and felt totally in her element. At (school name) nobody cared that she was a half-dragon because there were students there who were even stranger than her. She thrived during her time at school and it was bittersweet when she graduated.

After graduating, Lyra decided to take a year to explore some of the world before deciding where to settle down. Along the way she met a grumpy man named Kibi, who became an unlikely friend and traveling companion. Her travels led her to Waterdeep where she became involved with a group that was trying to venture into the famed Dragon Vault. Against all odds, the group managed to open the vault and were allowed to help themselves to its riches. Lyra obtained more gold than she could ever spend in one lifetime, enabling her to fund her adventuring lifestyle rather than settle down and get a job.
