ORIGIN - Malacrum was carved by a practiced hand. Plucked from a mountainside, his marble was scored and chiselled, sanded with care. What statue can remember what form they took? His only memories are of an artist's intent, a stalwart post. He had been for the longest time in a large building of some political import. Great men would pass him by - mortal men who aged and died and were replaced. Mal aged, too, but never moved. Never left. Statues know their place. Until he was taken. It had been years since he'd seen anyone, decades, and suddenly humans were rampant again and he was shown care. Not the care of some of the foyer statues and outside decorations, though. He was not a piece of prominence. Just additional decoration. When it came time to choose what the museum would show, he seemed.. extra. Unecessary.. So he went to the back and was placed in storage. There were no humans here. He didn't oversee their chatter or lend dignity to their prominades. This crate.. this non-contributing life.. this was not his place. It was too trivial, too dark. Too lost.
AS AN ESK - Mal is somewhat disdainful of humans for their mistreatment of him. He believes they don't use statues in the correct way. His kind should be placed in important places or prominent homes, not set out for historians or hidden away for preservation. As such, he is something of a menace in his domain. He'll move little things or misplace documents, rotate displays, remove covers. The more skeptical of the museum's staff would swear they had a ghost, but alas, they haven't any proof. For all their studies and documenting and accounting, he's finally out of reach and can no longer be misplaced.
TOWARDS OTHER ESK he is mostly indifferent. He has yet to see the benefits of socialization, and while he has inate charisma and leadership skills, he fumbles more personable interactions and tends to avoid them for the sake of efficiency.
