A kimet never often ventures outside of their main city, much less far enough away to no longer be connected to their totems. But Bea didn't want the life assigned to her, assigned by those totems - a squire to some of the most noble of her kind. Her parents were ecstatic, which only made her feel worse for not being happy.

She was a free spirit, not bound to paper and walls. All she wanted was to be out on her own in the wild world that surrounded them. However, it was forbidden for a kimet to entirely leave. There would be no coming back.

Knowing this, she took longer than usual to admire ever aspect of her everyday walk home. Her small delicate claws gently running along the surface of the old stone wall that she had passed by countless times. Until she reached her home. The home she grew up in. The only home she ever knew. Taking a deep breath, she walked in to greet her overjoyed parents... "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BEA!" they shouted.

This would be her last night in the city. Tomorrow, she started for her new life. The life where she gets to choose.
