Fun fact! Ayers is actually her surname which she has chosen to go by to honor her family who was killed during the war with Garlemald

Ayers was a runaway from her hometown in Kugane during the peak of the war. Fleeing as far as she could, she set off to Ul'dah hoping that she could build a career raising chocobo far away from the fighting. During her journey she stumbled upon some astrologians also fleeing who offered to mentor the young au ra until all parties were safe within the walls of the city. She had always questioned why they had so willingly taken her in and when prompted, her mentor would simply shake their head and state that the cards never once left them astray. Ayers' affinity for healing magics was a blessing and they were proud to have helped her hone her abilities.

After bearing the burden of corrupted aether, she teleported herself away to safely expunge the light and die, thus sparing the Warrior of Light, the First, and the dear Exarch. What was intended to be a one way trip to the rift ended with her being plucked from the arms of death, the corruption being vanished with the powerful light aether from the Mother Crystal.
Before she knew it, Ayers had found herself back in the first, reunited with her lover, the Warrior of Light. Oddly enough her scales crystalized, the aetherial exchange from her time away being put on display as a permanent reminder of her sacrifice.
