MLP history: Mumbles is a sheltered young man and it shows. Meek, self-effacing, and anxiety-prone, he harbors a quiet thrill for violence and fighting--to sometimes dangerous degrees that he does his best to suppress. He tries hard to do good, he really does. But poor Mumbles is prone to cowardice and selfishness, and is more willing to manipulate others (and more capable of doing so) than he likes to admit. If he could grow a backbone, he could be on par with his shrewd little grandfather, but for now, he does what he can to keep his grandfather in check. While also sometimes getting a couple tens to go have fun with his friends or get a new video game. 

Orphaned at a young age, he was raised by his grandfather and grandfather's husband, loving, but sometimes smothering. With no cutiemark, jobs were limited, and so he works in his grandfather's library as a librarian assistant. He's sort of terrible, but his grandfather thinks he's the best darn assistant he's ever had. Do not believe his grandfather.
