Watermelon Tourmaline

Watermelon Tourmaline is a homeworld gem whose purpose is to sing, in particular for higher ranking or "important" gems of status. Frequently Watermelon Tourmaline is sent to perform her duties in places such as the Colosseum's, temples, and spires; it is only on rare occasions that she gives a performance to an individual gem or a small collection of gems. While Tourmaline is often considered a middle/lower class gem, she humbly serves in the locations that her manager assigns her to, although she secretly hopes to one day be given a master whom she will serve. However, that dream has been placed on hold several times, as Watermelon Tourmaline has been sent to many of Diamond Authorities latest conquests to sing the songs that will inspire the workers and warriors alike. Watermelon Tourmaline was made with many other in a Tourmaline Kindergarten on a distant planet controlled by White Diamond, manufactured during the first era, she was from one of the early batches or Tourmaline that were created. It was noted that there was an abundance of her kind and with a wide variety of them, each containing a unique gift associated with their variation of Tourmaline. Unable or unwilling to keep a large amount of the diverse gems White Diamond gifted the Torumaline who weren't like her to the other two diamonds who she thought might get more use out of them. Watermelon Tourmaline's were gifted to Blue Diamond and while many served her faithfully and other watermelon Tourmalines were created by her on her later colonies. She eventually gifted Melon and a handful of other watermelon Tourmaline's were gifted to Pink Diamond as the beginning kindergartens were being formed. Fun Facts: > In this head cannon, tourmaline are below quartz in ranks, while hardy each particular color or subtype has its own unique abilities making them useful in any court. Watermelon tourmaline typically have a gift with singing, but aren't able to summon a weapon.
