Qi

 

"Circus freak!"

 

"Thanks for noticing!" Qi flipped off of the trapeze she was hanging upside down off of and leaned in to the person who was attempting to insult her. The person's face contorted into an ugly sneer and they began walking off. She made small waves at their retreating back until they were gone, smiling wanely.

 

Once the other person was finally gone, Qi let out a breath she'd been holding and slowly lowered her hand. The other hand immediately went up to tug uncertainly at the tie that held her hair up. She began to walk back to the sleeping quarters.

 

Being insulted by random people didn't upset Qi so much. No, what bothered her was when people like that came to the circus and didn't even attempt to appreciate their work. She liked to think that their circus was doing good; it made people happy, right? She didn't appreciate this fact being questioned at all.

 

Qi was already back to beaming at everyone and everything by the time she reached the sleeping quarters. None of her coworkers would be privy to her doubt and she liked it that way. Although the youngest member of the group, Qi felt it her responsibility to keep spirits high and concerns completely suppressed. She was the "cutesy, happy-go-lucky kiddo" of the troupe and she intended to fulfill her role. What could possibly go wrong?



Other random facts:
True to the animal she's been based off of, Qi is naturally nocturnal. Unfortunately, her sleep schedule is frequently messed up by performances that absolutely require daylight.

She can't actually see all too well and is blinded easily by bright lights, but her hearing is phenomenal. Her sense of balance is the same. She doesn't really feel like she needs the eyesight to do her trapeze and balancing acts; she just knows in her heart and senses with the rest of her body.

Qi likes having her hair long, but can't let it get in her face during practice or actual acts, so it's frequently tied up.

Has an absolute hatred of gloves or most anything that covers her hands; they prevent her from "properly gripping things." To be honest it just makes her nervous to not be able to feel things with her fingers. She already has a hard enough time about shoes.

Her wings are purely aesthetic. They are far too small to let her fly, but it does give her a little bit of glide-ability in her trapeze act... or at least that's what people say when they are trying to convince others that her act wasn't really all that good. She ignores that last bit when it comes up.

Pineapple is not her favorite fruit. Qi just thought it looked really nice with her costume. Of course, pineapple is still good. Just not her favorite.
