Shuafi was the god of luck. It was a benevolent being at first, and granted Luck to all who prayed to it. All someone had to do was place an offering, accompanied by a lantern, or a candle. Should the lantern be lit up, the person would know their pray had been answered. However Shaufi's bright kitsunebi was easy to mimic, and many people found their lanterns lit by fakes. This enraged Shuafi, and as a result it withheld its Luck, believing that humanity no longer deserved it. The term 'luck' had lost its meaning, now a fictional illusion humanity had come up with. Shuafi grew cruel, despising both the humans and kami they ruled with.
But however distant it had grown, Shuafi's belief in humaity shone through, and rarely, a human would come running out of their house, holding a lit lantern, something brighter than anything seen before. Luck.
