When docking in the small port town of Halsron, Araevin met Maddy Cecil in the local tavern. Araevin hires Maddy into his crew, from there they fall in love, get married, and live a happy life together until Maddy's disappearance. On his return, they settle down in Port Swinford and retire together.

PERSONALITY

Araevin is a very outgoing person who can make a friend in any new place he goes. He loves meeting new people and learning their stories, and indulges this desire as often as possible. Araevin flocks to the outcasts and the standoffish, as they tend to be the most interesting in his eyes.

In his private life, Araevin loves to journal. He's kept daily journals for the bulk majority of his life, even if he hasn't been able to save all of them. It helps him to keep a record, even if entries are as small as what the weather was like or what he had to eat, and it helps the days less blend together like they tend to when your lifespan is as long as an elf's.

Raised by Pirates

Born the daughter of stowaways aboard Captain Hezzick's ship, Araevin and his sister Rosalie were handed over to the captain to raise as his own. The captain only wanted sons, so Araevin and Rosalie were both raised as young men. Araevin found this worked for him, Rosalie found this didn't (this is how they both realized they were trans).

Araevin was regarded as the perfect son. Captain Hezzick spoiled him with praise, affection, and all of his attention. Araevin fondly called the captain "Cap" or "Cappy." The crew regarded Araevin as Hezzick's pride and joy, and treated him as such. Hezzick sheltered Araevin from the harsh life of a pirate for as long as he could manage, meaning all Araevin ever knew was the stories Hezzick told him. This caught his fascination, and he longed to go out on adventures with his captain--but Hezzick refused him. This was a form of protection--but whether he was pretecting Araevin or himself is unknown.

Once Hezzick finally deemed Araevin old enough to handle the pirate life, Araevin was taken along on the raid of the town of Millstone. Shortly Araevin realized this town had no money or valuables, and all the people were struggling as it was. His pirate crew was hurting them more than they could recover from. Seeeing this, Araevin decided to stand up to Hezzick.

Hezzick wasn't impressed with Araevin's new ideas. Hezzick was an infamous captain known for his ruthlessness and greed. His only soft spot was Araevin, and he hid this fact from everyone but his crew. When Araevin stood up to Hezzick, he was given a choice: forget his ideas of "moral superiority" and remain in the crew, or stay on his desired path and be booted off the ship. Araevin, prioritizing his family, chose to stay aboard.

Araevin kept quiet about his newfound morals, but that didn't stop him from helping people the crew hurt in secret. Rosalie found out about this, but said nothing to the others to protect her brother's safety.

Years passed like this. It came time for Hezzick to choose a successor to take over the ship after his retirement. Seeing as Araevin had dropped this idea that pirates were causing more harm than good and was now acting as a pirate should act, Hezzick deemed Araevin the best fit to take over. When he retired, Araevin was left with the ship, the crew, and a small sum of Hezzick's fortune.

Vigilante Justice

With Hezzick now gone, retired to Port Swinford, Araevin had a plan. He informed the crew that they would no longer be stealing and pillaging from just anyone; they would specifically be targeting the rich and greedy, and no one else. The crew didn't stand for this idea, so they kicked Araevin off the ship. They respected him enough to leave him some of the gold Hezzick left to him, but otherwise Araevin was kicked off with nothing to his name. Rosalie left the crew with him, to look out for him.

With the gold he was left, Araevin purchased a new pirate ship, and hired a new crew comprised entirely of people who were not originally pirates. This included Zanara, the medic, Evenath, the carpenter, sailors, fishermen, and regular workers. The crew later gained others, such as Mena Nitsky, the cook and Lumi, the cooper. Araevin frequently recruited those seeking refuge or looking for a new path in life; he liked the wanderers. With these folk, Araevin lived out his dream of stealing from the rich and greedy and giving back to those in need.

It's during this time that Araevin docked in Halsron, a poor fishing town off the coast of Kirdine. Here he met Maddy Cecil, known then as Cecil, a street kid notoriously known for starting fights and stealing anything he could get his hands on. Araevin recruits Cecil into his crew, who later re-introduces himself as Maddy.

Within a year Maddy confesses his feelings for Araevin and they begin dating. Araevin is reluctant, having only ever been in casual relationships meant mainly for sex, and Maddy wanted something more serious. Still, they stuck it out, and the two of them fell deeply and intensely in love with each other. Soon they were married, and traveled the seas together joined at the hip.

When Maddy disappeared, Araevin lost his passion for sailing and persued other avenues.

A Different Path

Four years after Maddy's disappearance, Araevin had handed off his old crew to Rosalie and joined up with a new adventuring party consisting of Durzahvur, Kander, Twix, and Jack Damaris (Victor Cannith). He stayed with them for about a year, and started dating Jack. In Riavet, Araevin ran back into Maddy, which caused some complications and caused Araevin to break up with Jack.

After reuniting with Maddy in Wakeboro, he and Araevin went off together to give Araevin a break from his party and search for Sending Stones to keep in contact with one another when they're apart. During this time they realized they're both still in love with each other and wanted more than anything else to be and stay with each other, no matter what.

Instead of returning to his adventuring party, Araevin stayed with Maddy, and the two of them settled down in the party's estate that was given to them after the successful offing of a tyrant. The two of them retired, got re-married, and lived a happy domesticated life together.

If Araevin was to spend his life with anyone, it would be Maddy in a heartbeat. Half the time they act like a sweet married couple, the other they act like bickering children. Their bond was an unexpected one, but Araevin thanks the gods every day that Maddy is in his life, and Araevin wants to keep it that way for as long as possible.

ROSALIE SIANNODEL older sister

Rosalie knows where Araevin is coming from more than anyone else. Growing up together they had their differences, but now they share mutual respect for each other and their individual lives. Araevin knows Rosalie will make a great captain when her time comes.

JACK DAMARIS ex-boyfriend

Also known as Victor Cannith, Jack and Araevin met after Maddy's disappearance, and was a bit of a rebound relationship. When Maddy returned and Araevin broke up with him, Jack held some resentment towards him.
