Personality: Kind. Tough. Curious. Seriously protective of those he cared about. Was quite shy as a child, with not many friends, but he came out of his shell after meeting Vale. After getting one two many growth spurts and turning into a big and buff dog fit to be a club bouncer, he’s become a lot more confident. A lot of that confidence is focused on protecting Vale, almost as a thanks for sticking with him all these years. Vale would say that there’s no need to feel indebted, that if anything Vale is the one who should be feeling in debt, but that won’t stop Azul from always putting his partner’s safety first.

Abilities: Unlike Vale, Azul was born without magic, not an uncommon thing for many born on his planet. However, he is a tough man who doesn't give two shits about the threats of others. He's the brawn to Vale's brains, a stalwart guardian who could absolutely punch someone through a wall if he so desires. He also has an intense focus and can complete anything he sets his mind to, be it reading an extremely long book or determining whether someone is safe or not.

Backstory: Born into an extended family, Azul was never one to get much attention. He wasn't the smartest or most athletic, nor was he particularly talented or naturally adorable. His coat bore no striking patterns, and he could never speak in a way that demanded the attention of others. He was never abused or mistreated for his ordinary disposition, and his parents never neglected either. But still, everyone chose their favorites, and Azul was the favorite of no one. By the time he was in elementary school, Azul was quite used to this fact, taking it as a part of life. He stuck to the shadows, staying out of everyone's ways. He hardly ever spoke, barely participated in class even when asked. Certain he was destined to live and die alone, Azul buried himself in books of fantasy and wonder. If there was no excitement to be found in life, then the least he could do was find another world to entertain them. In the end, his love for fantasy was how Azul ended up meeting Vale.

Vale had been reading a book series that Azul personally loved, but had never seen anyone else reading. He swallowed his fear, then approached the beautiful tiger in the library, timidly yet excitedly asking him what he thought about the book. Vale smiled brightly, a warm and accepting smile Azul had never seen before, and said that he loved the book. Said he thought it was super neat, and asked if Azul had read it before. When Azul responded that it was one of his favorite series, Vale then casually asked if Azul wanted to read with him. The rest was history, the two stuck like glue since. Whoever created the saying "absence makes the heart grow fonder" had obviously never met them, as the two were plenty fond enough without ever leaving each other's sides. Azul protected Vale from anyone who wished him harm, always sticking up for his friend. Even as they grew older, and Vale confessed that he was both asexual and aromantic, Azul still refused to leave his side. He fully accepted Vale for who he was, and told his fretting friend that although he loved him, it was in no way romantic. The two talked it out, and were closer ever since.

They bought a house. They got married. They adopted a daughter that they now dote on every day. They hardly ever fight, and when they do they always talk out their issues, even if one of them needs to be alone for a bit. They share a lot of interests, but have their own hobbies as well, and each will happily listen as the other gushes about the things that make them happy. They both support their daughter, caring for her with love that is pure and nurturing. By all accounts, they are a model couple. However, as of recent, there's been something eating away at Azul. Something that's been harder and harder to ignore. He knows there's something wrong with their planet, but thus far has been able to ignore it. But, since Vale started offering a bed to the vagrants that wander the streets, it's been harder and harder to ignore what's right in front of him. Not only does Azul worry that those that Vale takes in might lash out and hurt Vale-- or worse, Charlie-- he also worries about what it is that's leaving them in this state. And, if Vale continues to be an arm for them to lean on, how long it will take this mysterious force to find them and punish Azul's family for their kindness.

Each day, Azul fears that evil's retribution grows nearer. Something that, for the first time in his life, he has no idea how to stop.

Family: Vale is Azul's beloved platonic partner, and Charlie is their adopted child. Despite the fact that Azul and Vale do not share romantic love, and Charlie is related to neither of them by blood, they are the most pure and loving family you will ever meet. Azul also has an extended family, including parents, aunts and uncles, grandparents and cousins of all ages, but he hasn't seen them in a while. They live much farther north than him, while Azul never liked the cold in the first place.

Relationships (The Facility):

Vale: Azul's one and only platonic love. Do Not Separate Them. Having been there for Vale, and Vale having been there for him, there is nothing anyone else could do that could ever break the bond that Vale and Azul have. Their relationship may seem strange to some-- two creatures married and having an adopted kid yet denying any sort of romantic (or heaven forbid sexual) love for each other-- yet there is no doubting the affection they share. They are content with their life and the decisions they have made, and neither would have it any other way.

Charlie: Azul's beloved daughter. He's felt nothing but protective of her since Vale for brought her home, and holds the opinion that she is one of the best things to ever happen to them. He loves watching her learn and grow as each day passes by, and it's all he can do to keep from crying whenever she calls him "father". His protectiveness tends to get a bit overbearing at times, but he always means well, and Vale is there to let him know whenever he's accidentally smothering their daughter. Azul is the type of parent to always volunteer at school events and show up to everything that Charlie is involved in, sometimes embarrassing her with his enthusiasm. But, she can never hold it against her father, knowing he is only trying to encourage her.

Valentine: It can not be understated how happy Azul is in his relationship with Vale. He is also not currently seeking out a romantic relationship, though he's never been opposed to the thought throughout his life. Still, there are nights when Azul stays out in search of some mindless fun, something Vale is completely on board with after having a talk about their relationship. Valentine can often be found at the bars Azul frequents, and so what was once a one-night-stand became an odd string of meetups that have no rhyme or pattern to them. Azul will go out, and Valentine will sometimes be at the right place at the right time. Both could have their pick of anyone else, Azul being buff and Valentine being quite attractive, but for the most part they almost always leave with each other. There's no love between them, absolutely not-- Valentine especially can only think for himself and his own wants. And since Azul's not looking for a relationship anyways, he's a-okay with Valentine's attitude.
