Grew up in a farm but was allowed to go to school and uni. When the war took hold, she got enlisted at 20 and served 3 years in the Red Army as a nurse (later on sniper) until finally died in 1943/1944 and wounded up "here". 

Detest being pitied. 

Resilient, a bit stubborn and has well hidden mental issues residual from her past, death and from current residence  

Can't die permanently but also can't heal. Thus suffers from quite a lot of trauma cause by physical pain. Despite that she refuses to stay put and soon discovers there's more to peace than what she bargained for.
