(Name is a placeholder until I can think of a good gerudo name)

As a pregnant gerudo woman around the time of high gossip about the possibility of another male gerudo being born (and the likelyhood that they would turn out to be another calamity ganon level evil), Selene was careful and nervous, not wanting to tell anyone too much. But there were others pregnant too, not just her. And plus, the dates could be off. The chances she would give birth to the next great evil sounded slimmer when she overthank it, and that's the way she preferred it.

Until the day she gave birth to a son.

Terrified of what may happen to her innocent newborn, she quickly devised a plan. No one would know of the baby's true sex, they would only know that she gave birth to a healthy baby girl, nothing out of the ordinary.

It was a good thing she was a good liar.

There was guilt, yes, to lying to her own child about their gender, but once they were old enough to know, they would understand.

13 years passed, and nothing out of the ordinary happened. For all anyone knew, she had a beautiful daughter who was growing up to be a strong gerudo woman.

Sure, there was the fact that her child would occasionally come to her at night whispering about terrible nightmares that felt more real then reality, but what other option did she have then to reassure them that it was nothing, and just not to tell it to anyone else?

Everything was fine.

That was, of course, until that 'daughter' came to her and nervously told her that they met a friend who helped explain things to them, and that now they wanted to be known as male.

To say she reacted poorly would be an understatement.

She denied her son, too panicked to explain at first, only slowing down when they were both reduced to tears from the arguement. Taking it slower this time, she quietly explained the truth she had been hiding from him.

Theus was the name he had requested, and she reassured him that she loved him no matter what, just that no matter what, he couldn't tell this to another living soul.

Through tears, he promised he wouldn't.

But regardless, word spreads, and news of his existence made it to the castle regardless.

By Hylian guards who told her it was for Theus's own good, for the good of the entire kingdom, her son was taken from her to live at the castle.
