Alani Minaleth is the mysterious leader of the Harbinger Society.
Born before the turn of the millenium, Alani has an ageless air about her that lends her a wisdom unmatched. As a historian, she is intensely interested in the power of stories, especially those previously hidden from the public. She seems racked with a grief unknown, speaks in a meer whisper, and moves with slow deliberation.
Despite her morbid presentation, Alani does have a sense of humor, albeit a dry, dark one. Having been through much herself, she finds it very important to keep everything in perspective. Life is, after all, consistently absurd, and she would be remiss to ignore that. Though, her low chuckle carries throughout the room, and it often creates even more tension when paired with her natural intimidation.

Sterling
[ "Friend" ] Sterling and Alani's relationship has been tumultuous since its beginning. Alani saved Sterling when he was a teenager from a heist that would have gone exceedingly wrong had she not intervened. She caught him before anyone else, made him drop what he was stealing, and teleported them away before anyone knew they were there. From there, Alani recruited him to her secret society, the Harbinger Society, to put his rogueish talents to good use.
As Sterling's new boss, Alani feels an almost motherly responsibility to protect him. At the same time, though, Sterling is a difficult individual to keep in check, which Alani truly believes is one of his strengths. Their strong personalities, electric is vastly different capacities, make being in a room with the two of them tense, exciting, horrifying, and unforgettable.
Cascade
[ Friend ] Cascade is a kindred spirit to Alani, with their similarly gentle, melancholic souls. Cascade is her right hand in the Harbinger Society, a wise friend there to temper Alani's pessimism. She is the friend who communicates wordlessly, not always present physically, but always emotionally. It is hard, after 200 years of loss, to consider anyone a true friend. Though she may not admit it, Cascade has finally, and wholly, changed this.
