Meet Halle, the perpetually pissed-off protagonist of my novel Eagles Mere. Halle isn't sure who she is, what she wants from life, or who she'll end up as, and this makes her want to scream essentially 24/7. The constant crisis, coupled with her potent RBF and particular brand of resentful social awkwardness, leave Halle pretty unapproachable; she isn't all bad, though. For all her faults, Halle has admirable grit and will never procrastinate on getting things done, even if it does come from her complete and total lack of patience.

The lake next to Halle's family's summer home has always played a big part in her life, and when the property is under threat of being put up for sale, Halle is semi-understandably sent into full panic mode, feeling that she'll lose the last tangible part of herself along with the water. Her desire to save the place sends her on a wild and desperate chase around the quaint little town in search of a hazy myth of buried treasure, her three best friends in tow: but what they really unearth is unexpected, to say the least.
