There once was a human princess, kind and loving to all. She put her heart into everything she did, but those around her only took and took, until there was nothing left but a young woman who could not give anymore, and then she was found useless. After all, she was a princess who was far too gentle for the barbed tongues of nobility and too kind to rule and say no.

And so, she found herself attacked by bandits during a trip through the forest, her guards all mysteriously gone. They left her nothing but a few moments more of life when they left and the strength to shed a tear for the life she had given completely to others.

When she next arose, her body was as cool as the shade beneath a tree and her skin nearly as pale as the underside of a doe. There were no words, no guide, but she knew what was to be done. The forest had given her life, and so this life she would give back, protecting this place and its inhabitants, while living for herself.
