These explosions are uncontrollable and leave her unconscious afterwards
So far these explosions have only happened when she was incredibly ill and weak. Even then her explosion obliterated a whole city and left only three metals intact - Tungsten, Titanium and Graphene

She has no control. It's completely fuelled by her emotions - primarily anger
If an explosion happened while she was in prime health, it would kill her and wipe out half the earth. In that situation only a Graphene chamber with walls two feet thick would stop her

Childhood
Miranova was born to two loving parents and an older sister. She doesn't remember much of Petra as when Miranova was three Petra got into an accident. Petra died almost instantly and Nova's parents were distraught.
They became overly protective of Nova, making sure that she was always within arms reach and panicked whenever they couldn't see her. Because of this, Miranova never had the chance to make any friends and led a rather dull life that made her rely on her imagination more than was healthy.

Capture
One week when Miranova was six, her father left to go to the big city to sell several odd gadgets. During this week their house was ambushed and Miranova and Eon were taken captive.
Within a few days, her mother had been tortured half to death with Nova in the same room unable to block out the noises of pain. A day later they drained Eon of her magic and killed her, before leaving Nova alone with her mothers body.

Time until freedom
Most of her life since then has been spent in an underground room, her ankle attached to the wall by a metre long chain. She was brought food and forced to change and shower with someone watching to make sure she didn't try anything.
She occasionally had one of her captures talking to her, but these people were usually paid to converse with her, just to make sure she could still talk and she wasn't completely insane.

Personality
Nova is clueless about almost the entire outside world. All she knows is how things work inside the facility she was kept in. She is incredibly cautious and paranoid, not trusting anyone since she believes they will lock her away again.
She's incredibly creative and imaginative, often writing or drawing and almost always talking to her 'imaginary friend', Petunia. This often freaks people out but then they accept that she is simply using Petunia as a way to cope with her past.
Aside from this, she is very curious and very blunt, often to the point of upsetting people. She was never taught etiquette
