Quartz was born from two Blesseds, and was born a Black Cat. They were shunned from birth but were lucky. Most Black Cats are abandoned or killed upon birth, but their parents were rich enough to be able to afford to quarantine their child until they could see if they were a true Black Cat. Quartz was quarantined until the age of 15 due to peopels fear to get close to them. They self-studied their way through their education. The only person that would consistently visit them was their younger sister Victoria. Victoria would sit on the other side of the door and talk to Quartz. This small interaction staved off insanity from the loneliness. Victoria started to show signs of incredible luck, she admitted to guessing on her final exams and got a 100. Using this, Victoria managed to persuade her parents to allow Quartz out of solitude. Quartz now has some INTENSE claustraphobia, abandonment issues, and similar fears due to their childhood.
Once Quartz was free of their small room, they only really interacted with Victoria. Quartz' family grew incredibly wealthy. Quartz' parents didn't really grow warm towards them but did interact to try to have some luck rub off on them. Quartz' parents did not care when they came out as non-binary. Quartz' parents do not use Quartz' new pronouns.
Quartz was easily accepted into the Lady Luck Academy. Everyone faced them with fear or looked down on them for being non-binary. The only people that didn't reject them was the other outcasts.
