Silas

Silas is a playful and sarcastic individual who doesn't take anything too seriously. They're always exploring new places and meeting new people, but Silas never gets excited about anything. They're very social and friendly when they want to be, but they can also turn cold and bitter at the drop of a hat. Nobody really knows what Silas is feeling because there's always a smile plastered on their face, but that smile never reaches their eyes. They're a mysterious individual, and this has lured many people toward them, but Silas never lets anyone get too close. They're emotionally closed off and apathetic. So while they get along great with others, Silas doesn't actually care about any of them.

Aailœ was Silas's home planet. They don't like talking about it. The location and status of this planet is unknown. All Silas will say about it is that it's a dead world. Silas does not have any trauma (that they will admit) from their home, but it's obvious that their spontaneous bloodlust was caused by an event there.

Silas came to Earth hoping the planet could be their second, permanent home. They studied humans for a while until they confident enough to shapeshift into one and blend into their society. They had some troubles at first, but after a lot of trial and error, they eventually became perfectly disguised. It's unknown when Silas actually came to Earth, but they have documented many historical events in their diary and commonly talks about the events as if they were there at the time.

Crypid hunting was not something Silas originally planned on doing when they came to Earth. In fact, they had no idea what "cryptids" were. For all the time they spent on Earth, they had always assumed the crypids they saw were just normal animals. However, that changed when Silas met a man that went by the nickname "Hunter." He was a wandering traveler that happened to run into Silas in a tavern. He seemed interested in Silas for whatever reason and tried to befriend them. Silas ignored these attempts for the longest time until Hunter asked to speak with them in private. Silas agreed only if Hunter left them alone afterwards.

They spoke late at night in the woods when everyone else was asleep. Hunter didn't waste his time and told Silas that he knew they were an extraterrestrial. This genuinely surprised Silas since they thought their disguise was perfect. They asked Hunter if he intended on killing them, but Hunter was no fool. He knew he stood no chance against Silas. He was simply curious as to why an extraterrestrial would be inhabiting a "primitive" planet. Silas did not answer him, and Hunter didn't push any further.

Instead, Silas asked how Hunter knew they were an alien. Hunter explained that he was a cryptid hunter and that he had an eye for things that were out of the ordinary. There was something off about Silas's mannerisms in the tavern that was enough to get his attention. Comparing Silas to the plethora of cryptids he had encountered, Hunter was able to deduce that Silas was none of them. Therefore, they must've been an otherworldy creature. Silas commended Hunter on his keen observations, but had no idea what cryptids even were. So Hunter went on to explain his job in detail for the rest of the night.

By the time morning came, Hunter decided it was time to leave. He thanked Silas for their time and said, "Goodbye Kaz." Silas was caught off guard by the nickname, but before they could correct Hunter, he stopped them. He explained that it was important to keep their real names a secret so they would forever remain as strangers. He came up with the nickname on the spot and assured Silas that they didn't have to stick with it. Silas somewhat understood and remembered that Hunter wasn't even the man's real name. Before they parted ways for good, Hunter gave Silas his dagger. His final words to them were: "Take it, you'd make a great cryptid hunter."

Little did Hunter know that this dagger would become something very important to Silas. Not only was it from a human that saw Silas as what they really were, but it was also the first gift they had ever received. Silas decided to become a cryptid hunter shortly after out of boredom. But many years later, Silas would come to accept that they chose this path as a way to never forget the human named Hunter.

Ness is Silas's closest companion and arguably their only true friend. It was through her that Silas learned about "camaraderie" and "trust." They like spending time together, even in silence.

A mysterious man whom Silas only knew for one week. Hunter was his nickname, and he was the one to give Silas the nickname "Kaz." He was the first and only human to figure out SIlas was an extraterrestrial. He gave Silas a purpose in life.

• Silas believes emotions are a hindrance to existence, yet desires to have them.
• Getting Silas to talk about their past is pretty much impossible. They don't open up to anyone, ever.
• To normal humans, Silas's ponytail looks like normal hair. This is an illusion Silas creates by distorting the light they see.
• Silas doesn't have friends. They're friendly with everyone they meet, but they never let anyone get close enough to be considered a real friend.
• They don't care about people's problems and find people who ask for their help to be annoying.
• They've witnessed a lot of messed up things in their life, so not much can surprise them.
• Silas enjoys watching cartoons and other TV shows though, because the perfect worlds they take place in are amusing for them to watch.
