Profile
Hanate
"Mage of the Stars"
Hanate is the main protagonist of Star Cross. She is a mage with connections to the stars and overflowing with mana. Her staff, the Morphing Star, is able to take various forms at her will, all thanks to the crystal given by her mother to enhance her magical capabilities. With this power, she can also transform into the various creatures of her world by calling upon the constellations themselves. Despite this, she is not a very experienced fighter as she has not yet fully mastered her potential and and it may be a while until she does.
She is a very friendly and social person, always wanting to see the best in people, for better or worse. She is very curious, discovering more about the world and herself as she goes on her journey. While she is capable in combat, she often looks for help from her friends on how to improve her self-defense, who she deems more capable than her. She is also particularly clumsy, casting the wrong spells sometimes and, while not being stupid, isn't too knowledgeable herself, again going to her friends if she has a question.

Backstory
NOTE: I have not fully outlined the story of Star Cross just yet so any of these details could change at any moment.
Hanate is known around her new home town as "The girl who fell out of the sky". This is due to her origins, or lack thereof. She doesn't exactly remember where she came from and only has brief blips of her history, which has always concerned Zack and his family. All they definitively know is that she has a mother, that she wants to find her, and that her crystal is important for that as Hanate claims that it's a memento from her mother. Anothing they know for sure is that the staff she wields came from the ruins they found her in, as the massive light that came from it the moment she grabbed it drew them in towards her location in the first place.
They also note the scars all over her, more notably on her arm and back. She must've had a rough time being alone for presumably a long time. Yet, after a while of taking her in with them and caring for her, she still manages to be positive, spunky, like nothing bad had happened to her. At least, until one tries bringing the topic up to her, which understandibly is met with confusion and, rarely, despondency. Seems like her quest to find her mother will not only be a quest for an individual, but also one of self and her place in the world. And maybe even how, despite her outlook on things, things may not always line up like the stars she believes in.
Her step-brother and the one whose family took her in when she needed it the most. He taught her everything she knew about combat and how to defend herself due to Zack's family being devoted sword-fighters.
Her girlfriend. While at first they weren't too fond of each other, once they spent more time together, their bond continuously grew and eventually culminated at love. Their fighting styles complement each other very well.
Her mother, and the whole reason she's on the journey she's taking. One day, they were separated which led to Hanate eventually getting lost and later taken in by Zack's family. Hanate tends to get despondent when thinking about her mother.
