They are not wearing a dress, the smock-like feature is actually mushroom skirt which can develop in various forms across the species.
Personality:
They tend to be shy or nervous around people until they either need something from someone or actually warm up to them as friends.
They're pretty ingenious when it comes to thinking on the fly and coming up with more ways to make a profit.
Once warmed up, they tend to cling to people figuratively and can be afraid of losing them.
They love collecting gemstones and gifts involving this will make them warm up faster.
Flaws:
They are likely to steal gemstones/jewelry from party members if they haven't proven themselves proper allies.
It can be hard to tell if they genuinely like you or if they just want something from you.
They can be pretty impatient if they need to get somewhere and something is in the way.
Bio:
Grew up in an underground Dwarven mining town.
They were raised by their Uncle Morris, a Blue capped Shroomoid who looks similar to Pen except older. Pen doesn't know why other than never knowing their actual parents. Uncle Morris is the only parent they ever needed anyways.
- Outside of Character knowledge, Morris is unable to produce spores and opted for a Surrogate Sporing from his Twinned Sibling.
They began working as a miner because they wanted to join their Uncle's Excavation Team.
While working as a Miner, they came into the discovery of Gems and took a liking to the shiny rocks.
They eventually emerged, searching for ways to obtain more even rarer and more expensive gems, wanting to create and show off an expansive collection. Money was definitely needed.
Mining doesn't bring much in beyond a general salary and they'd heard rumors of Adventuring being a better source of income even though it comes with a risk.
Surviving many cave-ins and monsters in the dark due to their cautious nature, the Mushroom person doubts anything could be more dangerous than the mining profession and seeks the glory of gold so they can feed their shiny grabbing habits... In more ways than just grabbing.
- Used to have a Pet named Tinsel, a very young but Quirky Kobold they adopted after their mining group had dealt with a group of hostile ones.
He went splat after not listening to the Mushroom's warnings during a Cave-In.
