Many months after settling down with his wife he had been hit by a strange unknown disease manifesting on his skin, after getting inspected multiple times it had been determined that he had a strange form of the Dream Monster curse, and was slowly eating away at his flesh.

Knowing he only had only a few years to live, he decided to work trying to teach young adults at a local recruitment camp, leading to him meeting his apprentice, Archer Haywood. After an incident where his cloth covering his curse was sliced off during a training session, he left early to gather himself. During the same night, an odd doppelganger of Archer had assaulted him, ripping their hand through his chest and severely damaging his body. With the last bits of energy he had, he stumbled to the recruitment camp and fell over in exhaustion. He was found later still barely alive, and was brought to his cottage as per request.

He had died an hour later, surrounded by his friends and coworkers.
