Born in England to Aaron and Clara Bellamy, Petal had beautiful strawberry blonde hair and chocolate brown eyes. Her first name, Petal, was chosen by her father— the other three names by her mother, inspired by her religious background. Petal was a calm and clever little girl, but she loved climbing up trees in the rural area of her town, and giving food to deer.

Aaron was an able detective, and he was called to the USA for work. They soon moved to Texas.

After some time, her parents divorced, but remained very good friends; thus not affecting Petal too much. Clara found another man months after, a pastor named Bill. Bill and Aaron also became friends, and Petal would be left to their house often, when Aaron couldn't stay with her, since he also often worked in New York and had to travel a lot.

In October 2008, Clara had a car accident and died on the spot. It was devastating, especially for Petal, that was very attached to her mother.

The trauma led Petal to becoming depressed, and even though she was a child, she started dating lots of boys, which resulted in her losing her virginity at 11 years of age. She kept this a secret from her father(s).

Aaron often worked far away, so she stayed much more with her father-in-law than her biological dad. Bill was an old-fashioned man, that educated Petal with a tough love approach, to make her stronger. He used to slay animals in front of her, teached her to use firearms, and punished her in hard ways, for example by keeping her head underwater. He wasn't an evil man, nor he wanted to abuse Petal willingly, he just wanted to help in his own way; Petal still loved him, but it's not difficult to imagine how much this situation warped her perception of relationships and men.

When she was 13 years old, she met a boy named Heinrich, and started having sex with him for some time, until they decided to start dating. Things went well, but months after she met her first true love: an old man named Hunter, who was the town's butcher, and also, funny enough, the big brother of Heinrich. They met in the woods while Hunter was haunting wild animals, and almost shot her. They had sex near a lake Petal used to love.

Obviously, this meant she had cheated on Heinrich. When the latter found out, he, rightly, didn't take it well. With time, though, since he didn't see his relationship with Petal as serious as she thought, and since she was basically a child, he got over it pretty quickly.

Hunter also didn't see his relationship with Petal as serious as she was seeing it: she was a little girl, and he was 30+ years old. Having intimacy with a babygirl wasn't exactly something he would have been proud of announcing to the world, also because everyone knew him in town; in fact, he kept it a secret from everyone. Their relationship went on until Petal was forced to move to New York, since her father had obtained a permanent employment there, and obviously didn't want to leave Petal behind. She would never forget him.

Petal started going to high school and at 17 years years of age she met Etienne, alias Hismael, her current boyfriend, while in the library. They had sex for a while, and started dating soon after. He was her new first love, she cherished him as much as she cherished Hunter.

He managed to persuade her to join the Cult, and she did, just for him, even though she doesn't believe in their faith, nor what they do.
