Vaska has lived in Portland her entire life and although she loves the city itself, her family life was less than stellar. Her mother and father did not get along well and would often fight with each other, sometimes physically. By the time they finally divorced Vaska was already a teenager suffering from severe anxiety due to her upbringing. Vaska often would escape into her schoolwork and after-class activities to deal with her stress; over time she developed a taste for comedy.

Vaska moved out of her father's home soon after high school and took up a job in a local mini mart. Living on her own gave her the chance to truly explore her interests in safety, a incredible breath of fresh air for her. As time went on she was encouraged by her friends to try stand-up comedy in some local bars and she was amazed at how naturally it came to her. Vaska used stand-up as a way to vent her emotions over her past and deal with her trauma in a way that was incredibly cathartic and validating.

Portland is still Vaska's home, but she also enjoys making trips to other cities along the west coast to do stand-up and meet more people. She's also a huge theater/musical geek who could talk about her favorite shows for days.
