Ryth

A Vaiki born in the desert, where the species originated, Ryth enjoyed a quiet, simple life. Though they occasionally ventured into human civilization, they tended more to keep to themselves, and eventually, the small clan of meerkats who made a burrow nearby as well, in the Kalahari's sands. Outside their occasional visits to human towns for food and drink, they were largely unaware of the outside world - And that was fine by them. They had their den in the desert and their suricate neighbors, and that was enough for them.

But of course, this changed one day, when Ryth was visited by a strange Vaiki marked with triangles, disoriented and, frankly, rather loopy from dehydration. Despite the stranger's odd behavior, Ryth invited him inside for a drink and some shade, and he soon perked up, introducing himself as Adam, a researcher looking into the pyramids and their connection to the Illuminati. How he'd ended up so far from his destination, Ryth had no idea, but they pointed him in the right direction, and after a few days of recuperation, he set off once more.

Ryth had somewhat reasonably assumed this to be the end of it. But a few months later, they recieved a letter from someone in the nearby town while visiting to refill their supply of water, with their visage scribbled messily on the front and the words "Thanks for helping me out a few months back! You should visit sometime!" written inside, packaged together with a map of the world. On it, a small location was circled and labeled with the phrase "I live here." After some consideration, Ryth decided it would be unseemly to refuse his acquaintence's offer, and so they set about preparing for their travels.

It wasn't the smoothest of journeys - It took sneaking onto a ship and pretending to be a child's pet to get to the states (during which time Ryth discovered they weren't the biggest fan of sailing), and even after arriving, their travels still proved rather unorthodox, with a Vaiki they happened upon deciding that hitchhiking was the most efficient way north. But in the end, Ryth and their new companion, Brooke, arrived safely in Maine, and Adam greeted them with joy. After some time spent visiting, Ryth made the choice to leave the desert behind, as their cousin had before... even if it was largely influenced by not wishing to experience a month of seasickness again.
