Profile

Charles is one of Cas' closest friends if not the closest friend she has, as Cas has known Charles for just a bit longer than she's known Ralph.

In this universe, Raccoons are often expected to be a bunch of bar roaming, dumpster diving, filthy animals who want to partake in nothing but a life of violence, to which most of them do, specifically the older ones, and it's not limited to the burly men of the species either like you might assume, as the women get can get just as violent as the men do, though for them it's half and half.

At the bars, every raccoon wants to be the toughest and will do anything to stand their ground, going to extremes like running everybody out of bars for their own dominance. Raccoons don't even need gangs, even if they don't know each other they all have the same goals. Raccoons don't do this to rise up against anything either, like mentioned before, it's simply all for dominance.

Other species have attempted this, but it just isn't in their roots. The raccoons always have their ways. The only species that has ever come close to making themselves appear as violent as possible are the opossums from the city over, who even tried making relations with the raccoons and combine their efforts, but after a week of talks about the subject they refused and demanded they have their roaming grounds, the opossums have theirs.

Charles however wants to stay as far away from that sort of lifestyle as possible and do his own thing, like hanging out with friends or doing one of his many small hobbies, like model building or plant growing, but sometimes the pressures of outside life tend to intervene.

Over the years Charles has been given various 'gifts' by his father, like brass knuckles and a punching bag which he has set up in his room but never uses.

Charles' mother thankfully isn't as rough and tough as most raccoons either, and is the main person Charles looks up to in life.

For a period of time Charles simply thought he was being childish and immature with his interests like his father insisted, and had at one point tried to become the image his dad wanted him to be, but it just wasn't him. It made him upset trying to be this violent shell of a boasting street fighter, and it took many talks with his mother for him to realize that life simply wasn't for him, and that there's probably lots of other raccoon boys just like him who don't have any responsible role models whose anger is built off their own self hatred and so called foolishness.

Sometimes when Charles hangs out with Cass and Ralph at a diner, other raccoons often try and intervene and try and see what Charles is up to or possibly planning, calling him a "nice guy" or other names, and occasionally the real stupid ones try and get at his friends in front of him, to which Charles has to tell them they're of no threat to their surprise.

At one point, a real drunken guy about Charles' age noticed he didn't dress or act like the other raccoons and picked on Charles' for a bit, which eventually let to a fight, a gun being drawn and Charles and his friends eventually getting chased out of the area.

Even the people of other species not raccoon make remarks, often getting startled or being relieved he wasn't "like the rest", which he can partially agree with but gets tired of people's reactions to that fact.

Charles' dad sees him as a potential havoc wreaker and tries to get him to come to parties of hangouts with his buddies, thinking they'll "rub off some good influence on him", and those few times Charles had gone he never felt comfortable with anything they'd been doing around him, from drugs to liquor to fighting each other for no reason other than being off the influence of everything and having the urge to pummel eveything in sight, like a raccoon does.

It's not that Charles doesn't want to face reality and hide at home all day, it's simply the fact Charles wants to make a different, comfortable, and frankly normal reality for himself, which is partially why he didn't let raccoon peer pressure keep him from making friends instead of fending them off to boost his ego and further building that violent raccoon image. Sometimes he'll even ask his friends for advice to make sure he never accidentally veers off into that no good life style trying to be crammed onto him since birth, as the last thing he wants to become is something he was never meant to be.
