Mahogany

a young Rho who wishes for nothing more than to share the magical abilities of others of her kind... but without so much as a smidgen of magic to her name, she ended up taking up residence in more unpopulated territories to get away from the shame she felt. In due time, the land she called home began being settled by humans, and it was her fascination with them that eventually gave her a sense of purpose. Sneaking near homes to hear bedtime stories and book-reading she often found herself enamored by the tales of 'witches' and 'wizards' that wielded magic despite all other humans being nonmagical entities. She took a liking to them, seeing a reverse of her own situation in them, and a flowering appreciation for mankind's ability to thrive without magic through innovation. She trained herself in the art of transformation until she was able to take on a more humanoid form, and took to speaking, walking, and socializing like a human. In the span of many years, she managed to get together enough money and resources to start up her own small cafe... one she fondly themed after the witches that she so loved. 

the cafe:

Witch's Brew ; a small coffee and tea shop founded and run by Mahogany. It boasts a tiny workforce of about five girls, all of whom were carefully selected for their appreciation of 'fantasy' and magic. The standard dress code is robe-like aprons and long wide-brimmed hats, much alike witches. All coffee is ground from the beans by hand, in mortar and pestle. Tea is ground in the same way. Both are brewed in large metallic cauldrons, all within view of the customers for their reputation's confirmation as clean and fresh. Herbs, leaves, grasses, flowers, beans, and seasonings are home-grown by Mahogany or purchased from trusted growers, though occasionally they must be foraged for in the forest should the garden reap little in the season. 

Mahogany:

Quite a stubborn lass, very prone to fretting. Every caterpillar and weevil in her garden causes her a great deal of stress, and when she's not worrying for plants, she's chasing after youngsters with bandages and cleaning wipes lest they grow ill. She's fairly maternal towards most she deems 'cute' but is terrible at doing much of anything when those cute things yell or cry, as her tendency to stress just sets her over the edge. She talks very quickly, enough so that people feel the need to ask her to repeat herself... a lot. She's very easily swayed by emotion and doesn't always think through things in their entirety, but learns well from her mistakes and pursues her goals with impressive determination. Majority of the time she comes off as extremely sweet.... at the cost of any inkling of temper being that much scarier. 

Also she prefers being called "Maho" by close friends, and is quite insistent about it. 

She puts cinnamon in everything, EVERYTHING. All her food, sweet- spicy- savory, everything. 

Her love for her cafe is only rivaled by that for her cherished gardening assistant, a quite mysterious Rho who came into her life suddenly one night, beaten and bruised. She is fiercely protective of this odd and silent Rho, the only one of their kind she found herself able to take a liking to.
