• About

  Though holding quite a reputation as one of if not the best paranormal expert in the world professot Stefan Pedreira is a mysterious man preferring to stay out of the spotlight. He verifies, writes and consults on paranormal matters on the Isles and all around but is rarely seen on the spotlight. However, if one is interested in paranormal and such matters the chances are they've either read, seen or heard of something Stefan has written or done. Maybe even attended on his lectures.

• Personality

  Stefan is a little rough around the edges, usually a bit on the cynical or harsh side. He isn’t particularly evil or mean, but he can come across too blunt and rude. That’s just how he talks; behind the words is usually a softer meaning, and even though he isn’t the sweetest man on the planet, he is quite alright offering his help for those you ask for it.

  It's actually easy to see through his serious demeanor, especially if he is with kids or otherwise innocent individuals. Though stoic, Stefan is gentle and endlessly patient with them and seems to want keep them as safe and sound as he can. In fact, his distaste for violence made him retire from his work as a consultant for paranormal crimes. Even he doesn't want to resolve into violence he definitely can if needed, but like he thinks ' violence is the weak man's wepon".

  Stefan is not a huge people person choosing to spend his time with his work or loved ones rather than in large crowds of big parties. He likes cozy things and holds a family very dear. Reliable and straight-forward Stefan is easy to trust to and his determination to see things through gives him credit.

  His reputation is larger than him. Stefan is aware of it and though he doesn't like to be recognized with pretentious superlatives he feel proud to be able to reach people through his work. He believes knowledge should always be shared and improved and changed with times and he is very glad when someone learns something from his work. Better yet, improves it.

• History

  Stefan is a survivor from Earth, the original homeplanet of humans, that suffered the devastating catastrophe ages ago. Though assumed unlivable there are rumors that there are still some people down there but no one really knows.
  Anyway, what Stefan did in his previous life on Earth and what lead him to stop aging is somewhat shrouded on mystery. He knows it had something to do with the veil collapsing on Earth and how it corrupted water. The black seas, the deep, raising on the land and things like that. Though he truly doesn't remember, or doesn't really want to, he suspects something happened at the sea since he's now terrified of the murky waters and wasn't really afraid of the sea before.
  When asked he just shrugs and says that details are fuzzy and it all feels very irrelevant now that evetyhing important is on the Isles.

  After coming to the Isles Stefan's unique experience on Earth lead him to help out local detective with her work as a detective for paranormal crimes. He was her consultant and as such would do his best to know as much as possible about the paranormal things of the modern world. Which was a lot. An suprisingly close to Earth's. That faschinated Stefan and he was curious to know even more so he'd would practically live in the local paranormal library.

  Eventually he retired from the work as a consultant to be a full time researcher. Not only was it more stable and safer job, it also paid better and let him work from home. All of which were better for a single father with small children, than run around the country huntiong hunting restless spirits and desecrated sanctuaries.

  Though called a paranormal library, they tend to focus on magic and mythical arts and are definitely more build like an university. The one on the Isles is big enough to have both extraterrestial and paranormal wings though the latter is little more than a bunch of tired researchers and geeks reading through the local ghost stories and drinking litres of bad coffee. Stefan doesn't mind. His title as a senior researcher is just a excuse for him to use the library as he pleases.

  In these he is very self-employed writing down all he knows about phenomena, creatures and everything that even little bit dips on the other side and sometimes holding the lectures about the matter. He also still helps with paranormal things, though it might require some persuading to get him to do the field work.

• Appearance

  • Messy dark brown hair usually tied on a ponytail. Some grey here and there.
  • Brown eyes
  • He should wear his glasses all the time but he keeps forgetting them everywhere.
  • Dresses simply, likes clothes that are cozy
  • Usually a scratchy stubble. It seems to be there even after he's shaved

• Trivia

  • He stopped aging when he was 44. It was at least couple of centuries ago.
  • People are pretty sure he knows how to use magic. And contact aliens. And summon demons. And banish ghosts. And all that.
  • He'd never admit it, but his favorite genre in books and in any media is romance. Especially dark, gothic romance. He claims his favorite is mystery.
  • Stefan is an excellent violinist.
  • The Isles don't have nationalities, but back on Earth he was half Spanish, half French.
  • His parents were marine researchers so Stefan pretty much grew up on a boat.
  • He doesn't sail anymore due to his thalassophobia.
