The Vessel is never referred to by his real name, for he is nothing more than a host. He has been groomed since birth to be the vessel for an ancient eldritch god, used to wreak havoc upon humanity once they are finally brought into being.

The Vessel feels hopeless, powerless, and utterly defenseless. Any time he has tried to go against his chosen role, he had been 'set straight' and promptly forced back into compliance. While he is revered and taken care of, it's not because of him, and he knows it. He's not even allowed friends or to be in touch with his family, as none of them matter.

It's a sad, lonely existence. But the Vessel sees no way out.

Joey is a smart boy, able to pick up on things extremely quickly. Unfortunately, that also has left him a fearful person. He knows exactly what's going to happen to him when all the preparations are complete, and it's made him cry himself to sleep numerous times throughout his life.

He feels alone more than anything. He can't remember any time he was allowed to have a friend, due to the nature of his role in the cult. After all, he won't be around for much longer -- why bother getting any earthly attachments?

Due to his forced isolation, he's extremely awkward and it's hard to talk to him. Most of the time, he won't respond -- either he's convinced it's due to pity, which he doesn't want, or mockery, which he wants even less. Joey clams up rather easily, and it's really not hard to upset him. One must tread lightly when wanting to speak with him.

Abilities

As a vessel for a god, Joey has learned many, many things -- and he's capable of so much more. The cult revolves around this eldritch god, and as the chosen vessel, he has been allowed access to numerous books of spells and telekinetic practices. Since he had nothing else to do, Joey ate them all up and is always looking for more.

After much practice, he's able to use his blood as a weapon -- all it requires is a small cut, and then he can manipulate his blood at will and use it to attack and harm anyone going against the cult. This is incredibly draining, so he barely uses it outside of practice.

Something else he's able to do is see through other people's eyes. Once again, this is exhausting for him, but he loves using this power to see more of the outside world. He has to be in a deep meditative state to be able to use this power.

Joey is working on being able to levitate objects and throw them, but he's not quite able to do that yet. All will come in time, he's sure of it ... but he refuses to practice it unless absolutely necessary.

Notes

  • He's always covered in bandages. Their placements can vary.
  • Often heard muttering prayers to himself to feel less lonely.
  • Given the finest robes and garments due to his high ranking.
  • Hasn't seen his mom or dad since he was one year old.
  • Wishes, more than anything, that he could escape.
