Initially, Zephyr was revived by the Kingdom of Science soon after Mori, and the two were put to work. Mori was very wary of them at first, but they soon found that they had something in common - an interest in science. With a whole world of resources ready for the taking, they set off to work alongside each other in their experiments; Mori building increasingly complex and sophisticated machines and devices, and Zephyr developing various chemicals in hopes of creating medicine similar to the sulfa drug, but with a more general application that could be used to treat more diseases that were running rampant with the lack of healthcare. Eventually, Zephyr and Mori came to a crossroads - they both had the choice of siding with the Kingdom of Science or the Americans, of which Mori chose the latter, leaving Zephyr behind. They felt betrayed, letting their anger and hurt fester into what they thought was hatred (though they could never hate Mori, after all they had done together) and the connection between them became very strained whenever they crossed paths.

During the few years that the Kingdom of Science and the Americans worked against each other, Zephyr began developing their combat skills with the help of Tsukasa and Kohaku. They learned how to wield a spear and how to physically fight, building muscle and gaining many, many scars over the years from when sparring got serious. They became leaner and strong, lithe in their movements and overall a very different person to the one Mori knew. Their hair changed, too - cutting it short, just falling past their ears for convenience so it wouldn't get in the way (despite both of their trainers having long hair, it just especially bothered Zephyr to have their hair in their face).
