Appearance

Much like her mother Kumo, Shini hosts incredible beauty. Shini is known all over Tokyo thanks to her looks and appearances in magazines, on billboards, adult media, horror films etc. She has long raven black hair that extends a bit past her waist. Her figure being voluptuous, which causes many eyes (man or woman) to look her way. On the right side of her face right under her eye, she hosts a beauty mark, similar to the one her grandmother had.

Background

Shini's mother Kumo holds little to no regard for her daughter's well being. When Kumo fell pregnant she had wished for a boy, she was highly disappointed when she got Shini instead. Shini's father, Ikari is in and out of her life, only appearing now and then for short periods of time. When he was there, the only thing Shini could hear was them fornicating, yelling, screaming, and arguing. The noise was something she grew to be accustomed to. When he would leave again, her mother would do sexual favors for men in exchange for money.

Shini holds a small bit of love for her mother, yet not enough to pity Kumo. Shini sees her to be not just a beautiful woman, yet a spiteful, greedy, and callous woman. Growing up Shini was jealous of the men who visited her mother due to the fact that unlike her, they got to experience some sort of "love" from Kumo, even if it was forced and paid for. On rare occasions, men visiting Kumo would turn and look at Shini, then ask Kumo how much, which would result in Kumo kicking them out and her spending a small amount of time with Shini. Those were the only chances she got to spend time with her mother. Those moments Kumo would actually show affection and care for Shini, refusing to take any more customers till the next day.

There was one man who came by frequently to spend time with Kumo, he never wanted to experience the paradise between her thighs. His name was Hiro Yurei and he had fallen in love with Kumo. He wanted to take her away to Tokyo so he could take care of her, and he wanted to take in Shini as his own daughter. Shini ended up learning to love him as a father figure. Shini watched as Kumo denied his affections time and time again. She believed her mother was stupid for that. Shini thought if his mother accepted his offer they'd be living a better life in Tokyo.

Ikari returned and sniffed out Hiro. The two ended up fighting over Kumo. Out of fear Shini hid away in a closet until she had heard her mother's screams. She rushed out to find her mother laid out on the floor in a weakened state. Shini saw this as her only chance to get revenge for her mother's treatment, so Shini ate pieces of her mother, which Kumo allowed her daughter to do so, while Hiro killed Ikari. When Hiro had found her, he was horrified with what he saw. Yet he took her back to Tokyo. He believed that Shini deserved a second chance, and with proper care she’d grow to be something better.

When Shini had arrived, there was already another ghoul named Yoshi living under Hiro's roof. His family had been murdered by Doves so Hiro took him in. During the first few months of Shini living in the run-down apartment with them, she constantly bugged Yoshi and annoyed him which would cause him to snap at her and that only encouraged Shini to continue. Whenever Yoshi left the house Shini would follow him around the fourth ward. She stalked him when he went out with his friends.

Shini later started hanging around these ghouls named, Goro, Suki, and Reo. After hanging out with them for a while she caught feelings for Reo, and eventually lead to her dating him. Both Hiro and Yoshi had bad feelings about him and constantly told Shini to be careful with him but she didn't listen. Not too long after they got together, Reo had convinced Shini to start fooling around with him but they never went all the way After that, Reo dumped her and exposed pictures he coaxed her into letting him take of her across the ward. Distraught by what he did Shini fell into a small depression and stopped hanging out with them. Later on, Shini killed Reo and ate his remains. 

In an attempt to guide Shini into a better light, Hiro introduced her to Yoshimura, the owner of Antieku. Antieku was a safe place for ghouls, a spot for them to find sanctuary within the walls. While Shini had become very capable of protecting herself, working at Antieku as a waitress helped her form better relationships with other ghouls outside of Hiro’s group. Not too long after she started working there another ghoul around her age got a job, his name being Renji Yomo. Soon Shini became obsessed with him, finding every chance she could to talk to him, smell him, and touch him. Unknown to her he had also developed a small crush on her. The two started spending time together outside of work, hunting together, attending parties in the fourth ward together, and Renji even introduced Shini to his friends Uta and Itori.

Not too long after Shini had killed Reo, Hiro came home with another ghoul child who was feisty and quick to argue. He was smart-mouthed, quick-tongued, and always had something to say. His name was Teaser, and Shini adored him. To watch him contort his body was fascinating to witness. Shini took on the role of his older sister, watching him, protecting him, fighting with him now and then, of course, only to help make him stronger. Teaser never really shared his background with Shini but it was safe to assume that like her, his parents were dead and Hiro took pity on him just as he did her and Yoshi.

Months after Shini started going steady with Renji, his sister was killed by a dove which halted their relationship. Renji chose to focus on other things and ended his relationship with Shini which caused her absolutely devastated. Out of anger and a broken heart, she caused havoc in the fourth ward, killing any ghoul who tried to step to her. She also ate other ghouls which started the process of her developing a kakuja. During this time, Hiro had brought in one more child under his roof, this one being a human girl named Moko. Shini hated her, seeing that the human girl was going to take her place which resulted in Shini spending less time at the apartment. Her sudden change in behavior and brash actions against other ghouls caused her to gain attention from Choki, one of the ghouls who ran the fourth ward and its night life. Since Renji still worked at Antieku after their breakup, Shini quit her job there and found herself working at an adult store located in the fourth ward‘s red light district. This is where Choki sought her out. He promised her great things in her life if she became his girl, thinking that if Renji saw her with another man he'd come running back, Shini took the offer. Choki did fulfil his promises to Shini, but they came with a price. Six months after the two started dating, Choki convinced her to quit her job at the adult store and to come work for him, Initially it started as just Shini being his guard dog, anyone who messed with Choki was killed by her, then she ranked up amongst his group and soon was in charge of the other girls who worked for him. She also assisted him in running his night club and starred in adult films he directed. She eventually fell in love with him. 

During the early stages of her relationship with Choki, the apartment complex that Hiro owned and used as a safe haven for ghouls was raided by the CCG. Yoshi and Teaser had gotten out alive while Hiro and Moko were taken into CCG custody. Hiro was sent off to Cochlea while Moko was taken in by one of the investigators on the case, Aoi Han.

In 2008 at the age of 22, Shini had become pregnant with Choki's children after being with him for nearly four years. Once he found out about this, his treatment towards her changed. He went from seeing her as a prized possession to seeing her as a burden. He became physically and verbally abusive towards her, demanding she get the children aborted. Believing she had no way out of the situation since she wanted to keep the children, she called Renji after hardly seeing him since her relationship with Choki started. Renji told her to pack a bag and to meet her at the adult store she used to work at. He picked her up from there and brought her to Antieku, their car ride was silent. Renji had made arrangements to stay there during her pregnancy in order to keep her safe. He helped her settle in and when he tried to leave Shini asked if he could stay with her to talk. The two talked about their relationship from their teenage years, why Renji left and how he didn't want to leave Shini but felt as if he had to in order to protect her, Shini told him everything that Choki had done to her, the two ended up getting emotional and vowed to protect each other.

Not too long after Shini gave birth to the twins Jigoku and Akuma, Choki sent two of his goons looking for her. They ended up kidnapping her children and brought them back to their boss. In an attempt to get his claws back into her, Choki told Shini if she ever wanted to see her kids again, she'd have to start working for him. She returned to the fourth ward to follow his demands, but she was met with worse treatment than before and had her past titles revoked. Her role had been given to another woman named Aia who Shini had taken under her wing years prior. Feeling betrayed by Aia, Shini sought out to kill her to get her place back believing it'd make life for her children easier. Before Shini could strike the final blow, Aia cried out that she only took Shini's place to save her life, this statement threw Shini off entirely but caused her to back down. She then went to the apartment complex that Choki hosted the girls who worked for him to talk, She found out how the other girls in lower ranking were treated by him, all the abuse and torment they endured by the hands of his gang members, and decided that she was going to kill him. In order to gain his trust, Shini presented herself to him, begging him to let her apologize to him by spending one night with him the way they used to. He agreed. Under the impression that they were going to have sex, Choki left himself open. While positioning herself on top of him, Shini ripped his heart out, then his head. She feasted on his corpse as her final "fuck you". 

Since Choki was dead that left Shini in charge of his gang and night club, since she wanted no more ties to him and just her children, Shini passed it onto Aia as an apology for nearly killing her. But before Shini stepped down, she helped the women who worked for Choki kill the members of his gang that had hurt them. After this she went back to Antieku for safety. After not making the amount of money she needed to take care of herself and her children, Shini went back to work in the sex industry as an adult video star. 

Powers and abilities:

• Regenerative Power: Since Shini hosts a rinakaku, her wounds heal at a fast pace. Since she's a repetitive cannibal, her RC count has increased drastically due to her acts. She heals faster than most rinkaku users because of this.
• Body Control: Due to Shini's experience in exotic dancing, Shini has learned excellent body control. She applies it when fighting, which makes her quite the artful dodger. She's flexible, and quick, able to avoid a handful of attacks.
• Stamina: Since Shini was constantly thrown into the ring at the ghoul fight clubs, she was able to build up her stamina and can now fight for excessive periods of time.

• Due to Shini’s repeated acts of cannibalism, she has an incredibly high RC level. Because of this, Shini has learned to manipulate her body in other ways ghouls cannot, such as forming extra limbs and even delaying her healing factor. Shini can form bits of kagune all over her body if she has the energy to do so, this is usually done through open wounds. One thing she commonly does while hunting is form strings of kagune from her fingertips in order to catch prey, like a spider with its web. If necessary, Shini will delay her regeneration in order to play dead. This is what she did with Gen and Camo. Shini will even leave pieces of her body behind in order to make it seem like she was eaten.

• Shini’s kakuja has two different stages, one where it only takes over half her body. The second altering everything including her face. The stage in which it only covers half her body hides her legs, and forms the body of a spider, revealing her torso and so on. The other stage completely conceals her body, giving her the form of a spider. Even when using her basic kagune, Shini will form eight tentacles that resemble spider’s legs. This is where her title the ‘Jorogumo’ comes from.
• Takashi women rarely have sons, if they do it’s usually only when they’re carrying twins or triplets. Given the fact that the Takashi family is dominantly women, when they marry the men usually take on the Takashi family name. The Takashi women also have incredibly strong genes, almost always resulting in their children having a rinkaku kagune, black hair, and beauty marks on their face.
• in Japanese folklore, a jorogumo is a spider monster that takes the form of a beautiful and seductive young woman. The title was given to her by the CCG after fighting four ghoul investigatiors, wiping them all out besides one, whom is Aoi ( Washuu ) Han, a rank one investigator who at the time of the event was recently fresh out of the academy. The title is something Shini takes pride in, and has applied to her personal life as well.
• When in public with her children, Shini wears a face mask as a “fashion statement” and dresses in a different aesthetic. She also has Akuma and Jigoku wear face masks and match the aesthetic she’s wearing. Instead of wearing her usual black and red while in public with her kids, she opts for a pastel goth look. Shini is well aware of her status as an adult film actress and fears being recognized in public by a fan while with her children, she doesn’t want people in that industry knowing she’s a mother or seeing anyone online say anything negative about her being a mother. This fear came about after she had witnessed one of her filming partners endure horrible treatment after she had posted herself with her four year old daughter.
• If Choki attempted to bring another woman into the bedroom, before any sexual acts could begin Shini killed the other women and would eat their remains.
