Profile

A troubled kid with a very rough social life. His family hasn't stayed in a single school district for many years running, and as such he's always the new kid with no friends. Matt thinks he's the weird one and so he doesn't try to reach out much either - though he's not entirely wrong, to be fair; he's a bit lacking in social graces and is missing an eye from a dog attack in his childhood.

His story is very old and full of holes, but something something makes a very gregarious friend at a new school who co-opts him into her friend group and is subsequently invited to a get-together. They all get sucked into a magic world that preys on their emotional insecurities and Matt is an absolute gem of a repressed mess. He suddenly starts turning into a monster and runs away from the group to try and hide it, unaware the others experience the same thing.

Matt and Luke team up eventually when Luke is separated from the others and make actual, proper friends by proving they can rely on each other. There is no existing end to the story besides "and then they win and go home the end uwu" sorry :'3

Matt struggles with depression and doesn't have a network to turn to, especially before the advent of proper social internet. He's pretty quiet and is used to being alone with his thoughts. His family is just him, his sister, and his dad, who is also having an extremely rough time after the death of his wife while trying to spend time with and keep a roof over the head of his two kids.

Social Connections

Luke - best friend, though disliked each other at first
Caitlin - Luke's twin and (gags) crushing on Matt
Maria - little sister
(there are several more defunct characters i wont list for brevity)

Lore coming likely never

> afraid of dogs, for fairly good damn reason
> theres no way he has any semblance of depth perception, do not throw him things

> claws are fully retractible and when extended float half an inch or so away from his fingertips
