Canonically, Midnight exists in the continuity of Generation 1 My Little Pony. She lives in her own sky palace above Dream Castle and can be seen casting moonbows in the dead of night.

Midnight is a kind, motherly figure. She is there for her friends through their darkest times and is a good source of advice. Though she often has a short tolerance for nonsense.
