Kiyoshi Hirai

Overview 

Kiyoshi is from a long line of government-sanctioned onmyōji. While the practice was dissolved long before he was born, his family secretly kept the practice alive.

Being a housekeeper for the Fujiwara household, Kiyoshi becomes acutely aware and interested in Miyako’s involvement with the mysterious Yato and wishes to protect her from his influence and seemingly nefarious plans.

Personality 

Kiyoshi is easily flustered and worried at how others may perceive him. 

Backstory

Kiyoshi, having been born to a long line of onmyōji, was trained since a young age in the practice. Because of this, he has a strong grasp and vast knowledge of onmyōdō.

Besides training, he was known as a great student through high school that landed him a place in a university in Kyoto, where he studied history.

At university, he met and befriended Sugimori, who was interested in learning about onmyōdō on top of becoming an investigator. 

Once they both graduated, Sugimori asked him to move in with him in Tokyo to help him with his new private investigation business. Looking to get away from his domineering father and grandfather, Kiyoshi accepted the offer and quickly moved in with him.

Nowadays, when not helping Sugimori’s investigations, Kiyoshi finds odd jobs to help pay rent and utilities.

It is through this that he gets involved with Miyako and her family, starting an investigation of his own on Yato with the help of Sugimori.

Relationships 

Kyuusaku Sugimori

Sugimori, (or nicknamed as Sugi), is Kiyoshi’s business partner as well as his boyfriend. They have a stable relationship in all ways and will help the other out. Kiyoshi even taught Sugimori some onmyōdō while they attended university together.
